Thank you ThumbRemote.
Below is an extract from this page etiquette.
Please be nice to all MoneySavers:There's no such thing as a stupid question and, even if you disagree, courtesy helps.
Please be sensitive:This may be a web forum, but you're still talking to other human beings. Repeatedly or harshly saying someone's wrong, especially on boards like DebtFreeWannabe, Bankruptcy or Benefits, can lead to upset.
We're proud that many people whose financial problems exacerbate mental health issues seek help in the forum, but this means you may be berating someone who's clinically depressed. Please think twice before posting judgmental comments.
Yes indeed lol I posted on here once and the remarks I got were really rude and cheeky but I have to say I was well up for them and despite the doubters I got my money back . Have a look back it's a good read lol0 -
Anyway, I'm out of here as I didn't come here to be insulted. I know I made an error and I lost £100 and I also know I won't make that same mistake again.
Your money has been stolen - even if you in some eyes are foolish or stupid or greedy, the fact remains you are a victim of crime. Report it. Police or actionfraud

Good to see you took my advice and reported it, and the scumbag is locked up.
Didn't need the kiss though.0 -
I'll take the kiss... It's all attention ;-)
Anyway, just a word of extra warning - you might find yourself on a suckers list which gets sold scammer to scammer, so be very alert to any other unsolicited brilliant offers you may receive. Some of these can look very legit, and play the long game, so keep your wits sharpened!0 -
Thanks Paddy, I'll not make the same mistake again.
Robot, you don't need to take the kiss.0 -
It's no different to EBay asking for money upfront actually - you never get the goods first!0

It's very different to paying upfront when buying from a seller on ebay.
For a start, when buying from someone on ebay, with a very few exceptions you can pay via paypal which provides very good protection should you not get your goods or they are not as described.
Another point is that sellers on ebay can't ask for payment by a non traceable method such as UKash, which is how the OP was asked to pay.0
