    Good Morning Folks

Our kids went back to school last week, and we spoke to the school again regarding our holiday planned for next month, and our conversation with the school receptionist earlier on the year,

The school have now agreed that we can take the children out of school and won't be liable to pay any fines/penalties.

So, all in all, it has come to a happy ending.

And yet still no concerns about your children's loss of education and your example of "rules don't matter."

Not read the whole thread, but can't believe the amount of people condemning the OP for taking his kids out of for school, it is 5 days for a holiday that will probably be of a lifetime and maybe, if holiday companies didn't charge so much extra for peak time holidays, people wouldn't feel the need to go on holiday during term times.
    Raven. :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart

Yeah.....forget about teaching the children the concept of responsibility, forget about the need for a continuing education, you could even forget about disrupting the entire class, with getting their teacher to spend the following week helping them catch up with the work they missed.....just as long as they get their holiday.

Then, what happens when little Johnny's mum here's about the OP's free pass? She'll want her turn, then before you know it, half the class will be taking the week off.

If you can't afford to go on holiday in school holidays, don't go on holiday.

Great. So only rich/well off people get to go on holiday then? Nice.

Right up to about 7 or 8 years ago, kids were allowed 10 days off in school time and now they are not. And yet ironically, grades in many schools are worse.

    Go figure!

Not sure time off is less though as parents are not deterred by the fines, unfortunately. Pity.

Holidays are a luxury so hardly surprising that people with more money can take them. We're not talking about human rights here.

Except children have a right to education. :)

As a secondary school teacher, i completely DISAGREE with this.

We are talking about 13 year olds with excellent attendance and grades, and parents that are clearly going to make sure the child knows what work they will be missing BEFORE they even go.

This is an amazing and educational holiday to go on, and no doubt they will learn more during a week in India than they would in a classroom.

Some kids take a week off sick without bothering to catch up.

Then you get chav parents who take their kids on chav holidays despite their poor attendance and grades at school, then take no interest in their child's education at all.

I know which child I would rather have in my class...
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
