Anyone purchased a Silent multimedia pc by CSL running win 7?.
OHs pc just died (motherboard fault) and he is not a power user (not games etc) but has several software products (eg Outlook 2007) which will not run on win 8.1 Therefore looking at buying the above PC (from Amazon)and getting in a techie to transfer over the software he needs and his files.
Anyone got one? Are they any good?

The thing with "silent" fans..... They make noise.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If you are looking for a low-end PC that has Windows 7 why not check out eBay? Many have no opsys at all but there are some that do have Win 7. You'd be looking nearer to £100 that £300 then.
As an example here's one for £40 delivered...

Agree, eBay has loads of decent PC to run the normal daily tasks. And they will be quicker.
Intel i5 with minimum 4GB Ram will be good enough for normal tasks.0 -
its not what i would call a silent pc, quiet maybe, but not silent.
for silent, you need a pc with no moving parts. ie no fans, and SSD's instead of standard hard drives0 -
By my reading of the original post the primary requirement was Windows 7 as the poster has some software that won't run on Windows 8 (or at least they think it won't). Silent is pretty much irrelevant as the second PC linked to doesn't claim silence.
IMO an i5 with 4GB would run just about anything apart from high end video and games and could well be overkill. The £40 one I linked to would do for browsing and email which is just about all that was mentioned but could struggle on more demanding stuff.0 -
intel Nuc 2820 , very silent ,
machine + drive + memory =about £200 , fits on back of computer monitor on a bkt0 -
what type of motherboard faultDon't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0
