Somewhere else I read 10 months so don't be too harsh on the consultant.
You are fine to drive now.

Just check your licence when you get it, it may run for 1,2 or 3 years and not 10 before you are required to do something about it.

I can't be too critical of the consultant really - he and all the other medical people I've seen in the last year have been so good, it's just been so frustrating - I must have just about worn out the goodwill of all my driving friends so it'll be good to get back on the road. My poor little car is probably feeling very unloved!0
