How about get a phone with a good-ish camera in it - less stuff to carry.0

I use a digital SLR, but recently I bought the Fuji F20 for my mum and I am really impressed, great pics - wish I could keep it for myself now! It's also very compact.0

It very much depends on what you are comparing them with, generally they do not come up to the standards of Fuji / Canon / Panasonic /Olympus etc.
I will disagree with you there, as it depends on specific models.
I certainly wouldn't lump Fuji / Canon / Panasonic /Olympus together. That's generalising to the point of inaccuracy.
Some Samsung models use very high quality lenses, whereas some Fuji/Olympus cameras will have relatively cheaply made lenses.
To prove a point, I would be happy to post a picture taken with my £100 Samsung camera for you to compare with your chosen model.
In addition, the Samsung has a useful camcorder function. being able to shoot over a hour of video on a 1Gb card comes in quite useful.
Having only 11 minutes on my Canon IXUS can prove an irritation sometimes.
In the end, it boils down to one's likely usage.0 -
I have just bought this 8MP Vivitar from Ebuyer for £55 and I am awaiting delivery. Here is the link http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/119010 and the reviews are quite good. You could also have a look at this 7MP refurbished Kodak Easyshare, again for £55 at http://www.ebuyer.com/product/126743/product_info/rb/0. Both have viewfinders and 3x optical zoom.0

This one is at the top of your price range but a good deal with a free case too.
after a bit of reading up and seeing the cameras in the flesh i went for the one you linked me to
if you, or indeed anyone else have this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000MVWE8I
do you have the official casio case too? the one thats in the picture on the link.
indeed it did come with a free case, but its a bit too big to put in my pocket...the camera is tiny and sits in my pocket no problem. i was wondering if the proper case is tiny, just big enough to put the camera in?
thanks again.0 -
pfpf, you are up as late as me!
I'm in the market for a new camera, I have a reasonable one on my phone (3.2mp), but I want a proper camera for my trip to Bermuda next month.
The camera looks pretty stylish, what is the pic quality like?0 -
kev, not sure yet, only just got the SD card so will be tring it out. the camera itself is fantastic looking/feeling with a very easy to use interface....i like it alot.
maybe you could pop into an Argos and have a look at it before hand? i saw them in Asda too and Tesco Direct have an offer on it, but i went for the flat £99.99 with free case option @ Amazon.
does anyone have the answer to my above question please?0 -
The proper casio cases are the perfect fit for the cameras, so yes its about as small as you can get. It will add a little bulk on (I work in a camera shop and people seem to think we can bend the laws of physics with cases that are only a millimeter thick :P) but itll likely be the smallest you can get.0
