Hello all

So ive been hanging around on the boards for a couple of months now and this is my very 1st post. A little background I am a mother of 4. I am a housewife and my husband works to support us. The end of march 2015 we decided that instead of burying our heads in the sand concerning our debts and daydreaming about selling our home and buying our dream cottage, that maybe we should do something about it!!! :) so calculator out and we owe £10,355.21 which is considerably more than we thought, since then we have managed to pay off £2101.53 in 2 months. So the £8253.68 remaining we plan to chip away at around £1300 a month, the big plan is to be debt free by christmas and when 2016 hits us we are going to start putting a minimum of £1000 a month in the isa ...with an aim to hit £15000 a year with the help of my hubbys work bonuses. We know dreams dont happen over night...but i will be celebrating my 40th in the dream house lol. I cant wait to be debt free, fingers crossed it will be by Christmas. Also ive armed myself with quite a few books, one I found a brilliant read was' how to live on a pound a day for a whole year' this book really motivated me and I could not put it down xx

  • Hi again
A few changes have been made, so far we have switched supermarkets..no more Tescos, hello Aldi. No more takeways except maybe once a month on payday :0). We dont really go out to much other than at parties at our friends homes so dont have to cut back on that. However we do have 4 kids and finding things to keep them entertained that dosnt cost ££££ is proving a little difficult but i have come across some low cost events at our local library and museum which i know the kids would enjoy during the summer holidays. A big challenge ive got at the minute is we are looking for a mini break with the kids, ive been looking at the haven sites and the prices seem quite reasonable, however its the amount of money its going to cost when we get there(Damn arcades). So will need to be super sensible with the pennies once we get there.

  • Good morning all :0)
All but 1 of my kiddies are in school so thought id grab a quick cup of tea and update my diary whilst my youngest is crawling round my feet, so did a little math last night...every week I treat myself to a glossy home magazine,I love them...my house and my garden is my hobby and Im constantly updating and changing things around. Those magazines cost me £3.50 minimum a week...which over the year thats £182, in all honesty you could put quite a bit more on that figure since on occasion ill buy 2 at a time.I have a lovely boockase at home crammed with them. So as much as I love them , I wont be buying them anymore , Ill just stick to pinterest :))
I also think I might be turning my husband into 'crazy frugal man' I sent him out with a small shopping list to aldi with instructions to 'save money where you can'. He came home with a very triumphant smile saying 'look at this 2 loaves of bread for £1.06 and I bet its still as good as warbies, and these crackers 22p so I got you 2 packs!' hahaha we may of turned a corner :0). I think secretly he may be finding all this fun.
I hope you lovely lot are all well, lets keep going, were getting there xxx

  • Good afternoon you lovely lot, well the upcoming short break I was going to book to haven isnt happening , my son and daughter have decided they would much rather go on some theme park days....the short break was intended as their birthday treat since both birthdays fall in the same week, which kinda suits me fine as that will save us a few hundred...which can now be used to pay off more debt. Im now off to find some discount codes and money off vouchers for our days out, ill update as to how i get on :0). On another note my hubby found a five pound note in the street while he was out and about, always feel a little weird about spending found money, its only a fiver...but still. Its in a pot in my kitchen at the moment. Anyway hope all is well with everyone xx

  • Morning all
Job today is to sort through the house and start putting stuff on ebay, little bit of gardening as the sun is shining :O). Its going to be tough staying away from the garden centre this month, I dont think you can have too many flowers in your garden ....but I must resist!! Pay day next week so going through my lists and Im hopeful that at least 3 accounts should be paid off and closed.
Feeling positive about our big plan and cant wait to update the signature next week xxx

  • Good morning
Not much to report except....I started my diet yesterday and since Im all about Christmas targets, ive decided i want to drop 28lbs for Christmas.
Ive put some serious baggage on since last summer and Im not feeling too good about myself of late because of it...so here goes nothing , in truth I think ive more chances of clearing my debts than my weight ;o) but positive thinking xxx Think I will put it in my signature for motivation :0)
