Does anyone know or will the MSE wizz's be checking to see if using Apple pay still get's you Section 75 protection?
It seems like a great idea as you don't have to hand your cards over to the merchant so they won't even see your name or be able to pinch the numbers on the front.

I am sure MSE will check when it is launched.
As I currently understand it Apple won't actually be the merchant, unlike paypal, so hopefully that should mean s75 will still be valid.
However there was talk of a cap on the amount you can spend in a transaction with apple pay when it comes to the UK. If that does end up being the case then it may well be that the transactions will be too small to be covered by s75 either way.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Yes - I have a feeling it may be limited similar to contactless, maybe with a slightly larger limit given the small additional security features.
Although I'm not 100% sure on the technicalities just yet, I think the NFC in the iPhone will just transmit your card details to the reader in the same way it would for an online transaction, rather than Apple take the payment and then pass it on.0 -
Applepay just stores your card details and transmits it to the terminal, it's nothing like paypal so chargebacks and S75 (if over £100) will still be available.0

Cant imagine there being no limit on purchases made with Apple Pay.0

I am guessing there should be a limit with the contactless part, but seems like you can also use it to pay for items online so you conceivably use it for £100+ purchases. Sounds like S75 should still apply in that case given Apple is just the card storage/transmission medium. My credit cards still aren't contactless (HSBC and Nationwide) so this should be a great addition provided the S75 point can be confirmed.0

£20 limit on contactless payments.

What's the point of it? Might as well just use an NFC debit or credit card which nearly all new ones are these days.0

It will save me carrying loads of cards around the place. I've got about 10 in my wallet at the moment and the thought of leaving that lot at home is appealing.
Also, don't underestimate the value of novelty. I'll be really excited when it launches.0 -
I wonder how hard it will be for people to steal your card details from the phone....Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
