    remember back in the good old days checking teletext and seeing 7 nights in various places in spain or greece for under £100

    shame airlines/travel agents dont operate that way anymore where you could turn up at the airport with your case and literally get a last minute deal to somewhere

    yes. I remember when they filled your glass 3/4 full with Bacardi.
    they still do this but unfortunately the glass is filled with copious amounts of ice prior to the Bacardi.
    I think I am going back to the days of Freddie Laker! :)
    on a more serious note I noticed prices soared when the euro was introduced to replace the pseta.

    I remember back in the good old days of just turning up at the airport and get the first standby ticket, my best results were flight to Tenerife for £12 and Two weeks in Greece with decent hotel for £49. Longest I waited was a couple of hours before getting somewhere to go to.

    I had zero responsibilities back then though which made it much easier.
