How to choose the ideal 6th form for my son?

There is plenty of time to think about post 16 education. When it gets to Year 11 do the rounds with the open evenings for possible schools and colleges. By this time he might have some ideas about what he wants to do as a career or at least subjects of interest. Let you son do the talking rather than you (it's very tempting to ask the staff questions and take over), and encourage him to chat to existing students. And have a look at facilities too....
One of my three were put off by the attitude of the Head at one school which was 'we are so oversubscribed we choose you, so you will be lucky to get in'. It wasnt exactly very welcoming, even if it was true!
There are many different options post 16 not just A levels, and some subjects with similar names have very different content, so it's worth finding out about this too.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -
Have you no similar concerns about your son's twin sister, OP?Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0

My daughter has just finished her GCSE's and decided to stay at her school sixth form. I just let her get on with it, she's very sensible.0

Me I steered clear of sixth form (my school didn't have one) as it seemed like an extension of school, and a friend who went to one later agreed with me!
I was very happy with College and was treated as an adult. Apart from the absurdity of age 19 needing my mother to sign a form verifying sickness, mainly for EMA.
I mean if i'd lived alone who would they have asked??
I also think you have to let your son take the lead, express an opinion by all means but let him choose for himself.0
