We also need to consider 'harm'. All over the World we now see people suffering from water shortages, or flooding or vast fires, plus the harm and death/reduced life expectancies from FF pollution..
What part of demonizing FF is ethical?
Fossil fuels have saved millions of lives just in the UK
What were winter excess death rates before the mass deployment of affordable fossil gas to heat homes and buildings? What was the additional sick rate and lost work days due to cold homes?
And where are the coal heath savings you promised us?
How many billions did you claim coal was costing us?
Well with coal more or less 95% gone when should we all expect our NHS dividend from the coal phase out to land on our doormats??
Or is it, like I've said for a long time, a load of hot air by unethical people like you who inflate the fossil fuel negatives to ridiculous proportions?
Anyway the world doesn't care about your fundamentalist views
What's carbon emmissions worldwide done over the last five years? What will they do over the next five years? I rest my case0 -
And possibly 100% renewable electricity in Scotland this year ??

Scotland is 50% nuclear and those two stations will close this decade0 -

Easy to be green if you have the rUK to call on to buy your wind rather than curtailing and supply you with Nuclear/FF generation when the wind isn't blowing. Not belittling Scotland but it is hardly a model of what the entire UK could achieve.
That smells rather 'spinny' and very desperate to me!
First off, the rest of the UK wants that RE, in fact we are desperate for it to meet carbon reduction targets, and over the long term reduce energy costs and achieve energy independence. You make it sound a bit like rUK is being forced to take it, when in fact Scotland is making the UK look good/better.
And I completely disagree with your claim that the entire UK can't achieve this, why not?
Let's consider what Scotland is doing, they are producing a high percentage of RE, which means an excessive amount of RE at times, because there is a market for the excess.
Well, in the medium to long term, won't intraday and long term storage provide that market for any and all UK RE generation?
So Scotland is proving what can be done regarding RE capacity and generation, and setting the scene for the rest of the UK to follow as and when we decide to also get our backsides moving.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

A veritable Xmas selection box of RE news:
Starting in the UK, we have a scheme that seems to tick almost every box, making use of waste, producing bio-gas, leccy, manure and heat.
UK bio crosses finish lineThe plant, developed by Farm Renewables, on the Isle of Sheppey converts food and agricultural waste from the county into biogas and electricity.
It produces 500 cubic metres per hour of biomethane and 499 kilowatt-hours of electricity – half of which is used by the plant itself with the rest exported to the grid.
Malcolm McAllister from Farm Renewables said the project also produces a large amount of heat “which we’re planning to use to heat our landowner’s commercial grain storage and drying operation, greatly reducing the amount of diesel required”.
On to Denmark with another wind milestone, and suggestions that a very 'big' one might be reached soon:
Danish wind delivers record yearLast year 46.9% of the country's electricity consumption was covered by wind energy, up from 40.7% in the previous year, which had seen lower wind, and 43.4% in 2017.
Total output from Danish wind farms was 16.0 terrawatt-hours last year, up from 13.9TWh in 2018 and 14.8TWh in 2017.“This is really gratifying, and we are fast approaching a milestone where wind turbines cover half our electricity consumption.
“I expect this to happen during 2020 or by 2021, when the next 600MW offshore wind farm Kriegers Flak is expected to be operational.”
Back on the BEV bus, next stop Germany, where they installed another 4GWp of PV last year, and are fast approaching the 52GW cap, unless it's raised.
German solar grows 30% in 2019The solar market grew by about 30% in 2019 with almost 4GW of new projects installed, according to initial analysis by the German solar industry association BSW.
The association said falling PV prices coupled with increased power prices, an intensifying climate debate and expanding electromobility were the main reasons for the growth.Mart. There isn't even such thing as a 'scottish grid' they have so much connection to England that they are fully integrated to the English Grid and one wholesale price exists which covers them both
They are not an energy island like the UK grid is
Although even the UK grid is building out significant Interconnectors but so far we only have 4GW which only provides less than 10% connection of peak demand so we are mostly most of the time an electricity island
It's as silly as claiming London grid is zero carbon because there are no power stations in London we are 100% clean all the time!! Wow is us why don't the rest of you guys follow our clean lead? (Actually there is at least.one power station on London but you get the point)0 -

Scotland has no significant storage
What it does have is connection to England equal to or greater than its peak demand
So if you want the UK to follow 'scotland's lead' what you need to do is build 60GW or thereabouts interconntors from the UK to other countries with even larger grids than the UK
This is happening but nowhere near 60GW perhaps more like 15GW by the end of this decade and even then it's not quite comparable for reasons you wouldn't understand
Also the UK/world would have to go to 50% nuclear if it wanted to follow the Scottish example of 50% nuclear but you hate the nukes so that's not Gona happen. Talk about confirmation bias picking what to trumpet and what to ignore0
