Now who would write something so silly on an envelope and expect it to get there?

Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
I don't want to sound like a spoilsport, but a postcode and house number is all you need !0

i wonder why people bother putting address on...
one can put on e.g. "6 N1 8UY" and it probably will be delivered! Why is there this whole business of writing out the full address?0 -

Because some postment routinely deliver them to the same number house on a different street.
We kept getting mail from No 48 for the next street up (parallel to ours) for an entire year, even though the post code and street name were correct and clearly written on everything we got.0 -

an old thread i know but i saw it looking for something else
postcodes get the items to the delivery office but just postcodes would be a nightmare
some postcodes can cover multiple streets0 -
As long as you put on the house number and postcode, it should get there!! Hehe. They have a lookup system and thats all thay have to input to it to find the full address!!
And the other way around, if you don't have the postcode, they can get it from the number, street and city!!
It's great to see someone praising Royal Mail for a change!!! That parcel is well cool!!0 -

'they' have to go and look the data up on a pc
only a few in the office have access to those log in details
if this was to be the norm then most packages would be returned as incompletly addressed0
