I agree GG. I really struggle to "waste" money. My kids are the same.
I always compare prices and enjoy the bargain battles. Its part of me.
I suppose really, I am on a good wage and could spend if i wanted to. Just not me.Morgage till Nov 30 GOAL MFW Sept 2016Aug 11 - £100k Aug 2016.... It's GONE!!!!!

In honour of your comments, I have just spent a fairly sizeable sum on treats for myself this morning! Just because I can and I have a lovely weekend to enjoy them. Not a NSD for me today. Shall we declare where we are at the end of the month?

 I don't want to encourage wasteful spending  so hope you both needed, wanted and will enjoy themWe all deserve a treat now and then :T and will tot up my nsd at the end of the month.
Don't you find you actually want less anyway? Then when you do have a luxury you enjoy it much more than if it was yet another 'thing' mindlessly bought on the weekly trip to clothes shops etc :T.
Yes GG. When I was mortgage free, I just spent, anything I liked and was a bargain, I bought whether I needed it or not. No shame in that, as I still invested and saved, and was never in debt.
Now though, how things have changed, I'm amazed at how I make things do, how much I have cut down on my spending, and anything I buy always shop around for the best deal just like I used to. Never want to spend more than I have to on anything. And as you say - get more pleasure out of something new, when I do buy for a purpose, instead of just buying every week, goes into the wardrobe, and is still there the following year with the tags still on  That's why I had so much to put on the bay when I started clearing outbut all went to good use - o/paying the mortgage :money:

Same goes for me Helen, it's never been me, either, I have always been carefuljust bought a lot more in the past
but unlike you I'm on a miserable wage top of B2 :eek::eek: but we do have an excellent pension scheme
However - luxuries can mean a whole range of items. I read on a diary, that they can't wait to have their favourite loaf of bread, again, once they are mortgage free  My luxuries are a bottle of M&S Fresh Orange Juice and croissants and strawberries atm - no way I'm giving up them so I can finish my mortgage 1 month early :rotfl:There are just some things a girl won't give up :rotfl:Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.190 -
Can't believe I'm saying this but I am finding myself agreeing with Gally also. Whilst I don't think I'll quite be in the league of some on here, I've realised I don't need to have piles of new, unworn clothes (not the case anymore as I've bought very few pieces of clothing since I joined MSE. Also, the parts stockpiling is going to homes that actually need the parts and I'm considering selling a few watches I've not worn for a few years.2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -

Well, I never, ALK - I do believe you are in the same train of thoughts as most of us. Decluttering means "extra cash"

Kitchen cupboards need sorting/gutted/re-arranging
Need to get rid of a few items of furniture
Hedge needs cut - front -ok, back - well I'll need my ladders for that, or could wait a week or so, then could cut from upstairs :rotfl:
And got offer in from the Bay - 25% off FVF on first 30 items, so challenge myself to list 30
Need to get a move on.

I'm in a similar boat. When people ask me what I want for birthday/Christmas I really struggle. I'm not particularly materialistic so I don't really want stuff. Last year I told hubby to adopt a big cat from WWF as that would make me happier than anything else I could think of. I also got a cute snow leopard cuddly toy that sits on my computer at work0

Mrs P - that's a lovely idea, I go for in the main - a family meal out, a weekend away, a holiday, a show, or something nice for the garden. something that is purposeful and I enjoy greatlyAlways have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.190

I agree. I have recently gone the do something route rather than the buy something. I have bought afternoon teas, meals out, day trips, theatre tickets. As its the memories and time spent rather than anything else. If it is something, i really try and buy something that will be used rather than saved. Bought family tickets to see Mama Mia as family christmas present which is next weekend.Morgage till Nov 30 GOAL MFW Sept 2016Aug 11 - £100k Aug 2016.... It's GONE!!!!!
