Not much happening here, apart from being amazed at using my batch cooking from the freezer
Honestly did not think this would work for me, but coming home and taking something from the freezer works a treat for me. And the amount I'm Not spending (if that makes sense) cause I have meals in the freezer is surprising
I'm liking thisthinking I might need a larger/another freezer :rotfl:

What do you batch cook and how much of it?
I'm everyones worst nightmare when I go for dinner to their houseas there is a lot, and I mean a lot
I don't like
So for me, its basically
pkt Stew - stew casserole in slow cooker with carrots and onions
pkt Mince - Mince and Tatties
pkt Sausages - Sausage casserole - Yummy Toffee apple sausages
pkt Chicken small fillets x 2 - chicken casserole, and the other pack sweet & sour chicken/chicken fried rice
The rest is onions, carrots and casserole mixes, along with sweet & sour sauces, potatoes and rice and gravy granules. Happy with that for 1st attempt, and didn't take that long to cook.
I get between 3-4 portions out of each, which is enough but you could double it up for two - as don't want it every night, I also have salmon(which I love) and pizza (not home made - yet) in the freezer along with some other dinners.

Same as SJ here, got a half chest in the garage and the kitchen 50/50 fridge/freezer. Even though just me and DS, both are kept stocked with a variety of batch meals - for us it's chilli, curry, bolognaise, cottage pies, stews, sweet'n'sour and a new addition of soup. Plus Yellow Sticker items which are usually joints of meat.
Glad you're finding your food going further and enjoying the quickness of preparing dinner. It keeps our food bill down tooBack on the DFW Wagon:

It's so much easier, especially now that I'm back at work. I, too buy reduced items, and will be bringing them out to cook when I do my next batch lot.
Don't like curries, chilli, and bolognaise and have frozen soup before but I much prefer it just freshly made.
I have a 50/50 in the kitchen with drawers - 1 drawer is full of ice creams/ice lolly's, next is my batch meals, the last is my favourite salmon and pizzas.
I went into my fridge when I got home tonight and there was a tub of butter (which I needed) some strawberries, half a melon and half a lattice apple pie. My mum had been shopping and thought I might like themAlways have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.190 -
I do like homemade soup (unless the hubby finds loads of Jerusalem artichokes) but I find that after its frozen and defrosted it's much more watery. The consistency is just different than when it's not been frozen.0

Oh dear....I've yet to find out what the defrosted soup is like  Not sounding so good :rotfl:

:rotfl:Melon and strawberries :rotfl: will keep them for the weekend, but on second thoughts may take them to work tomorrow as trying to be healthy :rotfl:
I'm sure your soup will be fine, probably depends on what kind. Being the fuss pot I am, I only make two types, although they taste fine, you can tell they are not "fresh"
Hope you have a lovely "Birthday" tomorrow.Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.190
