Winning bidder with no address listed with ebay

And that's the crux of it! The initial eBay email should never be used. The eBay and PayPal addresses only align once the buyer has paid.
Advising to use the PayPal address is not wrong. But equally it's not wrong to advise to use the eBay address AFTER the buyer has paid as they will be the same.
The ebay help page suggests differently though.
There's also no mention anywhere that the buyers address on ebay changes to be the same as Paypal after payment. I've never noticed a change, but then I just go by Paypal anyway, I don't double check the ebay one after. However, that means the address you are going by is the Paypal one then anyway and so, just in case it doesn't change to be the same, you're best off using the Paypal address to be safe.0 -
Check some and see if you can find any that are different. Ignore the eBay emails, you need to go in to the eBay transaction as that will have been updated once the customer has checked out.
No harm in those who still want to check PayPal but it is a waste of time these days if you ensure you pull the address correctly from eBay.0 -
Thought I was asking a daft question there, but seems its not entirely clear.
I do use the ebay transaction pages rather than the emails and never previously had a problem and don't pack until people have paid. Just panicked I should have been logging into Paypal to retrieve the addresses. Have had people want stuff sent elsewhere and always refused.
The buyer who hasn't an address listed still hasn't paid, I have a feeling its going to be a non-payer anyway. We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -

If it was really a widespread problem then surely software providers like Linnworks would have their software check or download the PayPal addresses?...
PayPal Integration is normally used in conjunction with eBay order book integration. The functionality allows you to:- Download payments made by PayPal for product/services or an invoice outside of eBay channel
- Update eBay order with PayPal shipping address and any payment notes entered during the checkout process
For what it is worth, I'd only made about twenty sales on eBay when I got an INR for something I sent to the eBay address which was different to the PayPal address (about 3 years ago). Never got the item back and had to refund the £20 myself as eBay and PayPal said I didn't have seller protection as I didn't use the PayPal address despite proof of delivery etc. I put it down to experience and a newbie error. I've never sent to anything other than a PayPal validated address since.
SPCome on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.0 -

3 years ago the addresses probably were different a lot of the time. Or you used the address from the initial eBay email which can change once payment is made.0 -
Selling Manager Pro pulls in the Paypal dispatch address from the Paypal checkout page. Surely that's the point; it's the address the buyer confirmed at checkout regardless of whether you call it the eBay or Paypal address. It's correct, you can't use the address you see there in the order details before payment is made.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Just thought I would conclude the thread by saying the buyer never paid up so didn't get to see if a "full" address would be forthcoming following payment. We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0
