water filters for your shower?

water filters for your shower, does anyone have any experience of these?

for the past year or so, maybe longer, i have been suffering from very bad itchiness and some rash patches on some areas of my body,
it is at its worst during and after showers among other times, no matter how brief or cool i have them, i have read that some people find that their skin benefited from using one.

if anyone has any advice it would be appreciated

As a life long sufferer from Eczema until we had a water softener fitted, I can wholeheartedly agree with this.
The eczema cleared up completely and hasn't returned.
Not to mention the benefit of limescale being a thing of the past. (Apart from the cold tap in the kitchen and the kettle that is).

If you think the problem is your shower, a 'filter' will not make any difference, a proper water 'softener' just might.

They take up about half of a double cupboard under your kitchen sink, yes they have to be plumbed in. You'll be looking at an average cost of around £650 all in.
Have a read of this thread, it contains lots of information and advice. Everyone who has one will always say they don't know how they lived without it and how the benefits far out weigh any costs involved, because it's true.

I have just recently purchased an Osmio Ecopure deluxe inline shower filter - really to test out the efficacy. Our water is very hard. It simply screws into the base of exposed shower valve. I have good water pressure thereby negligible loss.

After just 1 month the shower cubicle glass hardly has any deposits, I'm using a lot less liquid soap, and skin is much softer. It should last about 1 year. They even make filters for electric showers.

Maybe worth a try before committing to a whole of house system, and see if this makes a difference and helps you.
