This happened to us once. The company making the mistake asked us to pay for the oil at "cost price" rather than retail price. This was their opening offer which I accepted, maybe I could have got it cheaper if I'd tried but 15ppl saving seemed fair to me so accepted it.

Sensible approach. You save some money and they don't lose any - no lawyers so no costs.

    Hi all,

We were sent either statement by them I, which we spoke to them about and told them we are not paying, but to come and collect their oil. This was still in June. Never heard from them since, so I'm guessing they've given it up.

For POPPYOSCAR....they had our address, as I'd previously asked them for a quote once or twice over the last few years - but as they were always by far the most expensive, we never ordered from them (still doesn't explain one person's name and another person's telephone number on the delivery slip for our address!)

They have no order from you, and thus no contract.

There is no way they can prove that what's in your tank ever belonged to them, nor would it be good practice for a company to exhume oil from a private tank and re-sell it, so it's of no value to them either, if they're reputable.

Ignore them, but despite what I've said above, buy a lock for the inlet.
