The kind of grandmother I will be - a very old one. They all have partners now, carers, social lives etc - babies are not even on the horizon.

Mostly we don't figure much in our kids lives except when a drama is about to unfold - which is far too often - when we are away I have a standard email which I send them which basically says - whie we are away, get up, go to work, come home, eat, shower, sleep, rest and do nothing else for 2 weeks so we can go away and not have to worry about what you are getting up to next

RL takes over and I often go AWOL from MSE for days, weeks even - we had a major drama that built up over the last 6 months that finally came to a head early this week so I went off line until things had sorted themselves out

Ta for info re courtesy cars - this is yet more unknown territory.
What worries me is when someone drove into the back of my car (parked outside the house, drove off without stopping) insurance company collected it next day and it was in the garage for weeks, some paint work problems - I was borrowing OHs car so at least it was not an issue.
Garages so drag their heels, nothing is ever done in a rush.

What a drama  I have missed your posts more than anything. But a total shut off is just needed sometimes :o I would only say if you get courtesy car.....don't go and fill it with fuel before they know what's happening to the damaged car. I've been there  not expecting my car to written off....took courtesy car which was running on fumes  filled it up, and when it was decided the car was a write off I had to take the curtesy car back and got no refund on the fuel  the nice receptionist who gave me it turned into Godzilla when my car was written off :rotfl::rotfl:

Anyway.....I still love and read your posts and enjoy them very much. I'm not sure if I will be as involved as you are in my kids lives the way you are when they are all flown. It's very motherly, it's so very caring and concerned. I like to think ill let go a bit but you always make me think......:o

I'm wondering what kind of a grandmother you will be :D :rotfl::rotfl:

That is all meant in the most loving way :heart2: your way with words puts a smile on my face. you have the most enchanting way of telling a very normal story :) it's very nice

My phone went ping - breaking my own rules about taking phones to bed but I wasn't going to sleep much anyway.

I know things will settle down very soon but in the meantime ...

Youngest son out in Hong Kong which is 7 hours ahead so I know if he us going to message or email me it will be in the small hours uk time.

They have the equivalent of an Oyster card called an octupuss card which they can use for buses, trains, in shops, all sorts of places.
His new employers sent him detailed instructions with photos of where to get one at the airport shops - it is vital to have one

I sent him and email with instructions of what the card was, where to get it, how to use it etc and I also printed these instructions off along with other useful info.

He had a 27 hour delay and a 14 hour fly journey to read all of this info again and catch up with his emails and read all of the instructions from his employers and the research I'd done for him.

He says he could find where to get an Octopuss card - they are sold in 7 11, circlek - small shops like the spa and he must have walked past the shop at the airport.

So he has got a cross email from me

He also says his accomadation is standard - what does that even mean.

Just as annoying from across the other side if the world

would you believe this - just checked emails before going up and the renewal notices have come in from Admiral tonight - just about rounds off a perfect week

Fridays challenge was to be getting to grips with Sky ...

There will be someone else along in a minute - loads of people were wondering about at 4 yesterday morning because of the heat :rotfl:.

I've printed off the car insurance renewal document - a very miserable thing to do at 3.30 in the morning - now def ready for bed again ...
