We always compost leftovers including meat and bones. But we do have rat proof compost bins on hard standing.
Tiny flies only a problem when you open it so I usually leave Mr TS to do the job of emptying inside caddy.
The old wooden pallet compost bins that were there many years ago we did have a rat stuck between the two. When Mr TS finally got it he held it up by it's tail at the window like a trophy. _pale_
The bins we use now are made from heavy duty recycled plastic and have proper lids have worked really well for over 15 years now and make excellent compost. They collapse down too if one in not in use for a while. Weren't cheap but very good investment. But they do have to be on hard standing no good on bare earth, rats would tunnel. :eek:0 -
Hello:wave:
I've had a productive day today....
Received a cheque for one of the try me free pastas:T
Popped into morries and found the choco lait, Nacho kit and the Mars cake bars. Thanks mhoc
Then to Mr t to collect the monkeys socks...
Bought 3 pks of whoopsied meat and the extra £2 multibuy did come off so £5 for 8 chops and a pk of Turkey steaks:T which is pretty good for my store as there's nothing left by final reductions usually.
Tyrells hand cooked lightly salted 6pk crisps were rtc at 45p and another cider vinegar flavour at 83p not the same make but hand cooked.
Maybe store specific but Worth looking if you are in t...0 -

Right everyone opinions needed. As some of you I have spent the last 5 years caring for Mum and Dad but went back to work last May and still did most of the caring for Mum ( Dad now gone) But in March my sisters installed a live in lady but she only lasted a month. Anyway we now have another lady who is supposed to cook Mum a meal every day 4 days a week and clean etc. Worked well 1st couple weeks but this week the only freshly cooked meal Mum has had was Sunday Lunch that I cooked. We buy the odd ready meal for emergencies but this week she has had 2 ready meals and some bits from the freezer. Kind of think the lady is taking the michael. Anyway because I am not really her carer anymore ( although I still do 2 days a week) I dont really want to get mixed up in it. Although I was upset when I was efectivelly sacked when the lady moved in I am now free to do my job , look after DD, plan a wedding and get my house up togethe. She is paid 80 per week for 8 hours and Mum also has carers 4 times a day. What do you think. I am inclined to say let the lady come 3-4 hours a week to clean and get Mum Wiltshire Farm foods ready meals delivered. What do you think.
Other thing is Mum has something called NPH ( which is kind of water on the brain ) and they want to put a shunt in in 2 weeks. She had a preliminary lumbar puncture in Feb to see if it made any difference to her walking etc but I cant say it did much. She was quite poorly for a week or 2 after that and still gets pain where the needle went in.
This op entails inserting a shunt into her brain and a tube to drain into her stomach. Apparently it carries risk of stroke, menginitits, blood clots after and I am wondering if its worth the risk for an 89 year old who is already frail and overweight. I tried to talk to my sisters but they wont listen .0 -

I remember saying to Mrs Mac only had one. She about choked on her latte. Core Elite and only one freezer
:rotfl: in defence left massive freezer in old kitchen when sold house.
I'm not fickle. Useful works x
You are right I now have three. Last one was bought when i was going to retire and do lot of cooking and baking :rotfl: I need to tidy then up again as the whoopsies have been really good Not pennies but about 75% off In my "A's" they start congregating just after 6pm and remain there in an orderly fashion
I would have loved to been at the checkout after the guy who had a huge trolley full just to see the cost
New work sells herbs, marinades etc and kitchen utensils and happily gives small samples of herbs, spices etc to staff.:T

Rose, it really does sound like that woman is taking the P! What your mum needs is a cleaner and food. Wiltshire Farm Foods would surely be ideal, she could choose when to eat then as well!
As for having the shunt put in at 89? I wouldn't put someone through that at that age unless they were fit and otherwise healthy! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
