I'm a wuss when it comes to dentists too...even at my age someone has to take me and sit in the room whilst I'm seen

I think it's just bad luck. Fortunately, after this tooth has gone, there is still plenty of bite. There is one of my family that hasn't visited a dentist for years (I am trying to convince them around to attending) and doesn't brush their teeth as much as they should either:eek:. Yet they never any have problems at all, whilst me, brushing, flossing, interdental brushes at one stage (though that's now been stopped on the latest advice from the hygienist), everything, twice a day, right time, right everything, and I'm back at the dentist and the second abscess of my life had developed so this one had to come out. Far better anyway - the dentist was saying last time this could be a difficult one and we may get it to last another couple of years - today, I said, if it's only a couple of years more life in it anyway then why not just take it out? Just have done. And he did - he discovered there was now an abscess (I felt it was just an ulcer) and out it's come, all the better!

But it is - I think it's bad luck sometimes, sometimes things seem best left alone - I think I've had more problems from overbrushing sometimes than if I'd failed to brush at all (not that that would have been a good option - it wouldn't!). My relative isn't as 'bad' as this lady that was on telly recently - did anyone see that? On BBC One - she hadn't visited a dentist for over 10 years and had resorted to sticking her teeth back in with superglue:eek::eek: - the glue harmed the bone and made the teeth even worse as they had no support. One of the last things you want in your mouth is superglue. But my relative - they're not like that - they don't even seem to have any problems at all:(. (Me just having 'unlucky teeth'.)

From a money-saving perspective:rotfl: - although this one did now have to be pulled, why pay to have a tooth filled only to pay to have an extraction of it in a few years' time? No trouble - charged the same for the extraction as the original filling plan would have cost. (Not sure if the extraction should have been cheaper:rotfl:, but never mind:doh:.)

I've made the right decision. I won't be bothering with M today and won't be doing the M list. Although I was already very near to M, I decided to go in the other direction and came straight back home. I'm not feeling too good at the moment, although I'll be alright again relatively soon. In fact it was the dentist that I had to visit, after the problems of last week(?) and what was to be a filling turned into a tooth extraction. I know many people have had lots of worse things than tooth extractions - really, I'm just a scaredy-cat:rotfl:! And, for fc, I went with my gut reaction and instinct. The appointment was even part-scheduled to being convenient to going to M:o:o or, although it was the first appointment I was offered and I say 'that's fine', I would have been likely to have asked for a change to another time if it hadn't fitted in. That's, in a way, how it part takes over, although I do normally enjoy doing it.

There are things I could be doing a little easier on Wednesday too if I didn't go to M. So, it's ended there. I can delete the list from this thread if needed. At least it has helped to show what should be comparable, particularly the SP items. So, you'll have to rely on msm in the future and any spots that people notice whilst in M. Does anyone know if the Unwashed Potatoes are on offer in M yet?:rotfl: At least they are now, I hope, on msm (and I'll have a look in a mo.) - maybe, one day, more of their range will actually appear online. The Pepperami weren't even on there last time, although I did see one of them confirmed as comparing. I've no idea what price the Pepperamis are now:rotfl:. It's back to watching the wombles for the prices for M.

Anyway, at least we seem to be having some summertime:T:T. The dishes can be washed now, rather than having them done at 6 o'clock tonight. And I can turn my attention to getting some home improvements done which is what I really want.

Glad to have been of help to some people here over the last few years.

Oh no!!- being selfish I will miss the lists and the entertaining banter especially at night/early hours of the morning.... But you have to go with your instincts and do what you feel is right, im sure the dentist will soon be a memory in the past and the household chores and diy will take preference for now at least, but don't be away too long..:)

Savvy, I'm quite new to Elite and I do too hope you pop by every now and then - even just to say hello!

Enjoy your home improvements and you're not a scaredy cat for going to the dentist. I used to have a phobia, I couldn't even phone them to make an appointment. I found a really nice dentist who I'm happy with and I'm ok. Tooth extractions are still a bit scarey tho ;)

I can't enjoy them when they are not yet done! And have been waiting a little longer than they should!

Actually I've no problem with the dentist at all. Indeed, during my depression (I still have that residual - I think once you have it you always then have it), I enjoyed going to the dentist as it provided a time to relax away from everything else. I was, I think, just trying to do too much (a bit like the M list started becoming over time) - sometimes you need a break, even if that's twenty minutes in a dentist's chair:rotfl:. My current dentist is "the best I've ever had" and I'm not going to change them. If I'd gone by another one, that I had many years ago, I'd have had about three top teeth no longer there now and, whilst they are a bit sensitive at times, they are happily remaining there. My current dentist told me they were fine, to my near amazement, when I very first saw him. Just shows, sometimes, not to go with every dentist (particularly ones that don't have hygienists perhaps, like my previous ones did not) - the several extractions were, for me, too costly and I just ended up falling out of going to the dentist at all for a few years. I did that with school after a short illness - didn't go back for a few more days beyond what perhaps I should and then felt unable to go at all as I felt I would be in trouble - they had to beg me back and say don't worry, we want you back as soon as possible and you'll be in no trouble. (Maybe some shade of autism, evident to us now, at that early stage?) Anyway.

But, on the dentists, don't refuse costly treatments even when they are necessary. The trouble is - how do we tell? Most of us have to rely on the dentist - but, sometimes, if it seems excessive work, may be best not to go with the first view.

I've got a bit of a not sure what to do moment.....I am going to an anniversary party on Saturday and am also involved in setting up the venue for the happy couple.

I found out by talking to them about their wedding that the original colour scheme was orange and navy blue so decided to do something a little inspired by that for the anniversary...
On saturday I went out and bought 10 pot roses to be placed on the tables, still in bud but thats fine as by saturday they will be starting to bloom...a beautiful rose called magic orange...or so the label says

One looks to be starting to form the bud colour....and its what I would describe as yellow....

Still lovely roses but not quite he colour they say they will be....now do I take them all back or shall we just go with what there is....

Savvy, think you have put lots of work into supplying everyone with your lists, think you deserve a medal for your patience, you have earned your time off even though house improvements are hard work you will be happy to see the results for yourself.

Thanks for this. It's also on Quidco Clicksnap and without seeing your post first I would have assumed I could get them at any ASDA.

This is a difficult one - looking on google images they should be orange

    https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=magic+orange+rose&newwindow=1&rlz=1T4RNLC_enGB520GB520&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=6ot1VZakF8XpUoiEgagK&ved=0CCcQsAQ&biw=1371&bih=638

Are they from a garden centre or from a supermarket?

If it was me I would take them back but there again how many people at the party are going to know about the orange and navy theme for the original do ...
