WishI'dReadSooner wrote: »Anyone want a cheap £49.99 Air Fryer with a 3yr guarantee? I don't think I've used my oven at all since we bought ours. Wonderful things! I also haven't bought bags of ready prepared chips as it's too easy to do chunky chips with skins on & they taste SO much better with very little fat. I cook all our meat in it & it comes out better than oven (there's only 2 of us though).

Very tempted by these but I keep wavering.
I love stick chips - you know the thin French fries - would it do these do you think? And being thin they should take less time?
Also how much noise do these make? My hand blender is very noisy but its only one for a minute at a time and the new washing machine is quite after it starts its cycle.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
Ive retreated into the house, not to avoid the relentless rays of the sun - with the wind outside its quite cold in our garden
- next door though have the gardener in strimming grass and the builders in re doing the kitchen roof - hammering, sawing, using an angle grinder along with the radio on in the background as well ..
afternoons in the country are such fun“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

Noise - not too much, slightly noticeable but like fan oven.
It'd do thin fries in next to no time - haven't tried them but sure it would! I do VERY chunky ones after using some Flora cooking stuff (5ml or so) in a thin plastic bag to coat chips - put them in at 160C for about 20mins to cook inside, turn over 1/2 way and then up the temp to 180 or 200C for last 10 mins. However thin would take FAR less & probably do at 180-200C - it's trial & error as potatoes differ. I also do things like peppers/courgettes. Fish is great in there, you can actually taste the fish BUT you can't buy the very long portions. I put fish on top of chips for last half of cooking.
It takes a bit of getting used to but it's something I wouldn't be without now. Warming up Bhajees pakoras etc. it SO easy. Meat does in about 2/3rds of time at a lower temp. as does most ready prepared stuff. I've done things like apple turnovers with Justrol we got for nothing.
For 2 people it's ideal. Could do 3 at a push, not really for a family though.

Mind you I have to retract any of the nice things I said about sainsbobs earlier in the week.
I made the mistake of going in yesterday - too kna**ered so I should really have got milk from Spar and gone home
domestos toilet wipes - ours does not seem to stock them
Santa Marie - no longer 50p, now 3 for 2
pizza we wanted - none in stock and offer finished anyway
Aloe juice - cant find this anywhere
Helmans mayo - no longer on shopotize
OH insisted we needed vegetable oil - we now have 3 bottles in the cupboard.
Then we went looking for the scan meatballs we have not had for ages and firstly they had moved them to a different section. They have also changed the packaging and now they have 2 sizes, a big one for £3 and a normal size pack on offer for £1.50. OH is convinced the £1.50 size pack is smaller than the ones we used to have and refuses to buy the new pack as he says its a con. So now we are condemned to never to eat meatballs at home - only on the few occasions we pass Ikea ...“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. :rotfl: littleman arrived 4days before his sisters 5th birthday.... I too would have been the same why we thought it would be a good idea to have them at the same time of year I will never know;)
I knew I wanted another summer baby but hadn't planned on them being quite so close together, even if they are 5 years apart lol.
God I've just got back from the school run, it's taken me ages, I look like a penguin waddling down the flipping road :rotfl:Life is not about learning to avoid the storms - it's about learning to dance in the rain.0 -
