Playing the 'positioning flight' game - have I got this right ?

which hotel did you go for?...I am looking for a night for next month and want to be near airport due to short time (arrive about 8pm and flight leaves 1pm next day)
Bewleys (at the airport not in the city) is quite a nice option at DUB and reasonableI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
I wouldn't think of that as a reason not to do it- US domestic F class is a very different animal to long haul when it comes to catering and the food is mediocre at best. The seat is what matters (although I'd try and route via LA or SF to get the longer better transatlantic leg if I could just not based on food but on seat).
In all honesty, if it's Domestic F with a 40" seat it will be an easy sell to Mrs C, as long as the price is right..0 -

I'd assumed that US Airways, with a codeshare, dual flight number would count.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

I flew lhr/phl/fll in business class with US airways at Xmas, booked as BA in the BA sale, and got silver based on these 4 sectors. US Airways business class is a great product with a 1-2-1 seating configuration and aisle access to every seat. Great comfort and privacy.
I don't like the look of BAs 2-4-2 club world cabin, sitting head to toe and having to climb over people to get out of the seat. I would rather do PE tbh.0 -
I've now booked my Summer 2017 holiday (happy times) and have gone the positioning route again.
By a country mile, the most cost effective departure point for me was Dublin, which suits me as I live in the North of England and gave a good choice of airports within 150 miles of me.
I also looked at repositioning flight on my return leg and I was surprised (well, TBH delighted) that Edinburgh and Newcastle ****were the cheapest places to fly back to - cheaper than AMS, CPH, OSL, LUX, HEL etc etc. So I'm being returned to my 'local' airport, without a respositioing flight and for a lot less money.
If anyone is looking at a repositioning flight, maybe have a look at a return to a UK airport and it was substantalliy better value than returning via a eu airport for me .
*** in fairness, returning to DUB was £7pp cheaper than EDI or NCL, but the cost of the repositioing flight home with luggage would have been several times the saving.0 -

Agree with this. I am based out of Man and of about ten positioning flights I have made in the last year or so including Dub, Ams and ARN, all but one have returned to my home airport. As you say it may be a little more expensive but you don't have to pay out for the return positioning flight inc luggage and removes any risk of the flight being delayed or cancelled etc.0 -

hello stevie
on the next trip you take, have a look at NCL as well as MAN. For the last 2 trips I've booked, MAN has been more than £200pp more expensive than NCL :beer:0 -

NCL is my home airport so I will have to give it a try - a bit late for this year though as all my trips are booked from AMS and DUB. I had never even considered returning 'home' on an ex EU itinerary, but certainly something to consider.0 -

Next year I'm EDI-DUB then back to EDI.
The positioning flight was quite a bit cheaper and the car parking at EDI about a 1/3rd of the price.
Between the two, EDI was about £100 better value.0
