So it's not even confirmed yet?HTB = Help to Bubble.0 -
The rumour is that it's also going to affect workers. So WTC won't be the exemption it is now unless you are hitting conditionality. I'm assuming childcare element is exempt too.
Apparently it's because IDS wanted to hit CB and now can't so was told to find other ways. I guess £23,000 plus your wages should always be enough though. But the I work with no income brigade will be affected.Tomorrow is the most important thing in life0 -

Its not going to include housing benefit for everyone in the city is it?
Think of all the workers with kids in London, £23K is mostly going to their LL just to live in the area near their job.0 -

If they are on benefits, living and working in London, then they would be better off leaving and going somewhere else that is cheaper.
If the rent is £23,000 a year only those earning in excess of £80,000 should be living there - they can afford it without recourse to public funds.
With London, there will have to be a general exodus of those who have to rely on benefits to survive. They are going to have to come to the conclusion that enough is enough and move away and let those that can afford to live there move in.0 -

If there is thi mass exodus from London, then who will do all the min wee jobs?
There will be. Lot of empty properties especially when you consider how many new properties re being added to londons supply every year.
Just shows how overvalued property and rents have got due to housing benefit pushing and holding up prices.
If housing benefit is cut, then rent no house price will fly to more fair level, but lots of repossessions on the horizonHTB = Help to Bubble.0 -
Nonsense, there will always be people wanting to rent in London and capable of paying the rent themselves. Look how quickly properties are snapped up, including those that don't accept benefits. I doubt any London landlords will be concerned with the benefits cap, except the cost of evictions.
So if all the families working and not who rely on housing benefit are forced to move out of London, who will do the min wage and low paid jobs? Can people really travel that far everyday, when they could almost certainly get an easy min wage job close to their new home wherever they end up outside London?HTB = Help to Bubble.0 -

People already do travel into London each day - they're known as commuters.
You assume that all those on NMW are in receipt of benefits, you forget about those that choose to live to their means. People live with families, in shared houses - it is possible to survive in London on a low wage, you just cut your cloth accordingly.0
