I always ignore the brand. My first pair were New Balance. They were one of the best pairs I ever had. I've now got one of the newer models of that particular shoe and love them.

More expensive isn't always better. My first pair were also the cheapest.

I've run a couple of long runs half marathon last weekend and a 15 mile yesterday.

I suspect the 2 are somewhat connected!
  • I agree, New Balance is a good and not so expensive one. My hubby and I uses NB running shoes.

I don't run but do plenty of hiking. I have found that whatever type of footwear I have tried, they usually come with really crap insoles which do not offer much in the way of cushioning.

I have remedied this in the past with a set of Sorbothane insoles. They reduce the fatigue on my feet/knees/hips on long walks.
They are not particularly cheap but seem to last for ever, one pair has been in 3 sets of hiking shoes so far.
