You should renew your tax the same way you normally do.
The only difference is you don't get a paper tax disc for the window anymore.
Reminders are still sent as far as i'm awareAll your base are belong to us.0 -

Thanks, you mean we still have to submit MOT and insurance certificate at the Post Office? I thought their new system, as well as abolishing paper tax discs, already had all these details on it - like it automatically gets logged at the DVLA when you've insured - or not - as the case may be?
Probably thinking ahead of myself?

You can tax it on-line, if everything is in order (ins. & mot) then it will go through, if not, it wont. Don't think you need to take any docs to the PO any more either.0

The reminder and online system has not changed at all, but you will no longer receive a tax disc via post.
I've not taxed my car at a post office for about five years now.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
PO will still check MOT on paper, online checks it online, but the insurance hasn't been checked at purchase for a year and a half.
Yes, reminders are still sent.
The only thing that changed around a renewal last year was that there's no colourful round piece of paper sent out.0 -
Hi,
My tax disc - no such thing now, or for the last 78 years.
(Road Tax) - as above - abolished in 1937 - so the money could be spent on other things - such as weapons for the war with Nazi Germany which was foreseen.
expires on June 30th 2015. What should I do please - renew it online.
have DVLA stopped notifying us for tax disc renewal - no, but why wait as you already know that your VED is due to run out?
Thanks
And to answer the question in your later post - no, you are not thinking ahead of yourself - what you envisage is already in place.
p.s. What's a Post Office?
p.p.s. - if you must have a pretty coloured disc in the windscreen - try a beer bottle label.0 -

Yawn, Yawn. do you derive pleasure from this? We all know what is meant so why try for the Pedant of the Year award?0 -
My tax expires at the end of the month and I had my reminder through yesterday.0
