Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker Car Insurance Carver! Debt-free and Proud!
    Hi All

Seems lots need hugs today. Sending them in bulk.

Bob, just checking, have you referred the claim to the ombudsman, if an insurance company treats you unfairly it is there to help and has teeth. I have worked in insurance for 30 years and have great confidence in them. Good luck.

    Ziggy, sending you cheery thoughts.

Why is life sometimes easier than other times to deal with?

I have had an exhausted day today. Hot drive in car, heavy lunch and another hot drive have zapped me. I was told the heat would be a problem and wow so it is. Only tired though, legs are still working, so all good.

Have a good sunday everyone and hope pride and prejudice went well.

Sorry. Feel the number of posts from me is somewhat disproportionate this weekend, but in response to you Maria. I have been through the ombudsman and am still with them. They finally helped me to win compensation under 1 element of my claim, misselling. That happened around a month ago. The current battle is on the business interruption front. They feel they've already given me enough. I disagree. The communication with the insurer on all of this is shocking. I have to fight to get a response out of them at each turn. It's horrible. Once this part is concluded. The ombudsman will take up the element of lack of customer service throughout the piece. Essentially it's been over 12 months of a very bad situation. I even won £200 compensation from the ombudsman because they handled the complaint so badly. Now I have one of their top people on it. He is very good. Really understands all of the insurance intricacies. But at the end of the day I just want this over with. Thank you.

    Good morning DFW-Devotees,

<<<<<<Oooo, I got a fourth medal. 2000 posts! Have I really been wittering away that much?!

Quick post before we had off out into the kinda-sunshine-mixed-with-high-winds:

    New Era Day 30:

:grinheartGoing to nature reserve in next county by train. Travelling by 'green' transport saves us the £6 entry fee on arrival. This will be cheaper than driving and paying the entrance fee. Good opportunity for OH to persue photography hobby. Then we will break our journey on the way home (this is allowed on the train ticket) and have a special offer light meal in Paisley
    . We've budgeted for this.

:grinheart Turned off electric alarm clock at the wall til tonight.

:grinheart Put shower curtain in washing machine. I used to regard these as 'disposable' and put them in the recycle bin every couple of months. :(

:grinheart Housework done with Stardrops and washable microfibre cloths.

:grinheart Washed the rucksack I take to work in same load as shower curtain. Again, I used to throw away bags when they got dirty. :o

:grinheart Renew library books online. Damn, got a fine! That's not like me.

Good luck with your Devotions, Devotees.

    List for today:

    Checked banks

One poll surveys done. I seem to get quite a few. Hope they pay out when the time comes! Does anyone have any experience with them?

    Hi Dawn,
I got to 40 pounds with onepoll a year ago and they did pay out promptly with no nudging! I haven't bothered again though as it took 3 years to get to that point - with so many screened out surveys :(

Sorry to hear things are tough Bob xx

Hope the rest of you have a great day!

I know I only post sporadically but I do follow the thread where I can...

Today's list of to dos and dones!

-Rang plusnet to say we were leaving as found better deal with SSE - they matched it as long as I paid upfront! (and actually is a better deal as it's evening and weekend calls not just weekend!!! - Works out as 12.99 a month for phone and broadband!)

-Off to do food shopping - we have loads of M&S vouchers so I was thinking keep our cash in bank and use vouchers (they have been sat there for months now!) for yummy decadence!

-Chase up payment from a parent for music tuition

-Need to update accounting for both the house we rent out and my tuition

    - Washing on line to dry :)

    Have a good day all!

    Afternoon Everyone

Well despite yesterdays frustrations it turned into a lovely day, the theatre was brilliant, great show, great company - I am really blessed with my relationship with my step-daughter (and step-son) she springs these trips on me every so often. I also love to see the fantastic relationship between them and their younger brother - to anyone with step-children my advice would be to take each day as a new day and don't hold grudges, be true to yourself - all relationships take time - and there ends the sermon for today:rotfl:

Afternoon all. It's been many a month since I posted on here, just got out of the habit - must try harder :)

Took 'picnic' and drinks with me to DD1 dance show to avoid having to buy food as out all day
    Washing on 30, drying outside
    Dishwasher on for cheap leccy
OH made a spreadsheet to track our food spend. We have a budget but tbh don't really know where we end up each month so have been saving all receipts and logging them :T
Spent 2 hours building a spreadsheet for my business I run along side my day job. I have been Doing it for 6 months - good news is I have just moved in to profit. Good news for paying off last bit of debt:D
Think that's about it for now. Promise I'll be back :j

Last thursday i managed to bag some free onstreet parking at a concert at the Manchester Arena, saved anywhere between £5-10 in exchange for a ten minute walk!

Today i managed not to buy a reclining chair for the garden despite being in the shops and finding a cheap one. I havent budgeted for it and i dont fancy moving stuff around in my catagories to buy it. (it was only £30!!) I will wait and if i still want one i will buy it at the end of the month when i have budgeted for it. This is a massive change of mindset for me, 6 months ago i would have bought one (and quite possibly 2) for about £100 each and just stuck it on the CC!!
    £1000 Emergency fund No90 £1000/1000
    LBM 28/1/15 total debt - [STRIKE]£23,410[/STRIKE] 24/3/16 total debt - £7,298
