I have received a parking charge notice for parking on private land. The pcn was attached to my drivers window. Upon reading it, I noticed it does not have my correct vehicle registration on it, does this make the ticket invalid? If it is invalid should I appeal or should I ignore it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Sorry forgot to mention when I log onto the companies site to pay the ticket they do have photos of my vehicle with the correct registration. Does have any bearing on the fact they have placed a wrong registration on the pun.

How 'wrong' is the VRN? Don't post the full number - but is it the full number that's wrong, or one letter/number out?
You do nothing at this stage, but wait for the Notice to Keeper to arrive with you. The PPC will get the registered keeper details from the DVLA; if your number is seriously 'wrong' then someone else is going to get the NtK.
The NtK must be served from day 29 to day 56 after the parking event. If it's outside that time, the keeper cannot be held liable.
You need to read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky near the top of the forum index, one page back from here. You will learn from that how to deal with this. Come back if something isn't clear to you - but everything is in the sticky, we can't type it out every time (dozens of times a day) for every new poster with a parking ticket.
But, to help give you more targeted advice later, please tell us now who the parking company is.Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

until they look at there photos , hence the reason for asking the name of the PPC0

Putting an incorrect reg on the ticket is one scam they use to get you to out yourself as the driver, by appealing on that "error"!0

Many thanks for your replies. Just to confirm it is the very last digit of the registration theta is wrong and the ticket has been issued by northern parking services who say they are a member of the IPC. Just going to read the above links now thanks0

Hi all I have read the newbie section and also looked on the internet. I have found a reference to the traffic management act 2004 where it says the vehicle registration must be correct otherwise the ticket is invalid due to procedural impropriety. I could not see this has been mentioned in the newbie part. Could you confirm if this is correct and if a pun can then be reissued with the correct registration. If it can be reissued is there a tome limit? Thanks again to everyone.0

The TMA relates to council issued penalty charges. It has nothing to do with private parking companies' [STRIKE]penalty[/STRIKE] (oops) parking charges. Hence why you won't find reference in the NEWBIES FAQ sticky.
And why we recommend waiting (patiently) for the NtK, because a time limit is relevant, and if they are initially chasing shadows, then, potentially, by the time they twig they've been chasing the wrong keeper and eventually get around to you, time might just have run out for them!

You need to get into a different mind set, this is an invoice placed on your car by a money making, profit driven, sailing close to the wind bunch of lowlifes.
They make up their own rules, and use any trick they can think of to extort money out of you, it is an unregulated industry that has two trade bodies that pretend to be there to oversee fair play, but are paid for by the ppc's that are members.
Follow the tried and tested advice on here and don't over think it outside of that or you will just go off up blind alleys!0

Hi just one final question you say do nothing until or if the NTK arrives. That company is an AOS company via IPC and the newbie data suggests to appeal after 21 days. Could clarify why 21 days it will have some significance I am sure. Also if I do nothing at the moment and do in due course receive a NTK what should I do at that point. Just to clarify it was the last letter of the VRN that was wrong but the photos show my correct registration. Sorry for all the questions just want to understand my position. Once again thanks for everyone patience and help.0
