I booked ahead for a crown check-up clean and any other possible dental work while on a 10 day stop over in Bangkok and found the work not as cheap as I was told .. the dentist (US trained) only did 2 days a week so no follow up appointments were possible (booked up) after the clean and gum to tooth filler was done and this was done badly and has been finished off when I returned home to London. I will do my homework and read about and possibly give it another go next time but am very happy to save up and go to my local dentist. Anyone got good advice on where to go for implants?

I had mine done in Thailand after extensive research. I avoided the roving Implantologists and opted for an experienced practitioner who stays put.. An Oral Surgeon and the Head of Dentistry at a hospital.
It's no good if you are only there on a short stay and do not intend to return, as a good practitioner will want to schedule checkups in the first few weeks and then an appointment perhaps three to six months later to fit the crown.
My Implants cost less than £700 each. She is just the best. Did lots of extra work without charge. Can't say enough good things about her.
  • I lived in South Korea for a few years from 2007-2009, so I'm not sure if things have changed there since, but the level of medical and dental care was excellent and laughably cheap. I needed to have my wisdom teeth removed while I was there. All in all, at a private dentist it cost me £12.50.

Yep, I know what you're thinking, but the decimal point IS in the right place. Twelve pounds and fifty pence.

Mind you I was working out there, so I was signed on to the national health insurance plan. I'm not 100% sure how it worked. A lot of expats out there had things like laser eye surgery done.

my daughter had to have medical treatment when we were in Goa last yr,

She had a rash on her foot, went to a local hospital, the gp visit, £3

Things got worse - we had to have doctor and nurse sent to the hotel, DD ended up with 3 injections, 2 courses of tablets and the bill was £70. She had a reaction with her malaria tablets / sun/ chlorine in the pool (which was over poluted). x
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

Had root canal work in India, needed to chase away eunuchs for the dentist mid treatment apart from that it was excellent.

I had a good experience getting new pairs of glasses in India: total price for top-of-the range frames and good lenses was less than fifty pounds, with no charge for the prescription.

I had a less positive experience in China when I wanted some dental work (a wisdom tooth out). The Associate Professor at the University Hospital warned about the risks of the procedure and seemed nervous about performing it, so I bailed out and went to a dentist in England.

...for £240.00, plastic surgeon in Pattaya, made as good as humanly possible the unsatisfactory otoplasty work carried out in Britain, initially by [TEXT REMOVED BY FORUM TEAM], and the subsequent slight improvement of [TEXT REMOVED BY FORUM TEAM]'s work, carried out by [TEXT REMOVED BY FORUM TEAM]...[TEXT REMOVED BY FORUM TEAM]'s treatment of myself ,as a card carrying human being, and the unfussy and unpretentious manner in which he and his staff carried out the work, put a smile back onto my face (and into my heart)...
