How long should I wait to see if an offer is accepted before looking at other houses

Why would the EA lie to us?They seem pretty desperate to sell.0

If it has been two days then phone the EA and ask the state of play. Quick, do it now before they close!0
-
Don't we sound too anxious and maybe ready to up the offer if we contact the EA first?0
-
You can't have it both ways - either you really want the property and want to offer more and if so contact the EA.
Or you carry on looking at other properties and just keep in mind that there is a small chance the vendor may decide they are willing to accept the previous final offer you made, and at which point the EA would get in touch with you.
If you feel you didn't make it clear to the EA that you wanted to leave your last offer on the table then you could telephone them to reiterate that, but also make it clear that you are still looking elsewhere.
The EA may be desperate for a sale, but the vendor perhaps isn't or not desperate enough to accept an offer they feel is too low.Why would the EA lie to us?They seem pretty desperate to sell.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
You want to know where you stand, that's all.
Too late they're probably shut now!0 -
I once put in an offer and booked a viewing of another property in the same phone call. So obviously, I'm agreeing with those that say not to stop.
But to me, it sounds like your offer was already rejected and you're leaving it on the table in case the vendor changes their mind. So I wouldn't sit around waiting for the EA to phone, keep looking.0 -
I am confused....
You said you put in an offer an it was rejected.
The agent said they wanted £10k more, to which you said no.
But you said the agent said they will get back to you? About what - I thought they already rejected your offer? You have made no further offer?
Where I am a few months is nothing.0 -
The agent said he will put forward my offer to the vendor and he will be in touch once he hears from him.0

they might be on holiday or just mulling it over or waiting for a sibling to agree to your price?0

I think they are trying to get more money from us. He didn't mention anything about seller being away.
We made it clear we are not going to pay more than the final price. He called twice to tell us there is a higher offer therefore we should up the offer by 10k. After realising he can't squeeze more money out of us he sent out a formal email saying that our offer was forwarded to the vendor, and we will be informed about the seller's decision. We haven't heard anything from him for two days.0
