MSE News: Lloyds fined record £117 million for PPI failings

SIMPLE ANSWER, Ignore the comments then they will stop,. :T0

What happens to all the money ftom these fines? It doesn't really benefit customers - surely they pay the fines at the end of the day. Just the same with the railways - fine them millions for being late or whatever, leaves less for improvements. Don't see the point. It would be more appropriate to kick out the bloke responsible without a golden handshake/massive pension.0

Bank fines go to the government.
Train fines, if it's network rail it is just the government paying itself, operator fines again go to the governmentSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

World of difference between complaining about miss-sold PPI and putting in a complaint when you didn't have it - where does it say on the MSE site that you should complain even if you didn't have it?Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

SIMPLE ANSWER ask Marty to stop posting complete nonsense and comments about which they know nothing beyond their own case.
As for Antonio, these people have no morals or moral compass beyond managing the bottom line. They sub-contract the work to companies who pitch for the business based on how many complaints they will manage out of the system and still remain within the regulators general frame of expectation as to how many should be upheld/rejected0 -

You have a good point LadyDee, I wonder who knows this answer ??? Do these companies actually pay the fines or is it just a paperwork exercise by the Government and FCA to mislead the public into thinking something has happened ? If the FCA (government) can show where this money is spent we might just believe them. The problem is they are not transparent so it still leaves a big question mark for everyone " ARE THEY GENUINE" or just fobbing us off again.
With regard to firing these so called "top bods", they have rock solid contracts which are legal and probably cover every eventuality including fraud.
Remember the crook and low life Fred Goodwin, because of his contract with RBS, he ended up with a pay off and pension pot that most people would work a lifetime for.
In reality Goodwin should now be serving a long prison sentence and he is the banking equivalent of Jimmy Saville, he raped and abused the banking system which affected people of all ages and despite all the complaints, no prosecution followed. I wonder which government hand he was feeding from ??
Osario should resign as he is useless as proven before but he will get his pension pot which is then governed by contract law.0 -

MSE and Martin started the ball rolling but they always said "if you have a claim" NOT "make up a claim"
If it was not for Martin, this huge FRAUD probably would never had been known. Just as Princess Diana was the people's princess so Martin is our saviour, he has probably put more money back into people's pockets than any government since the beginning of time0 -
Basically yet again a UK bank has been caught out again.
And we have many people on this site who post all day and night
defending these companies. Why ?0 -

That was exactly my point, perhaps you misread my comment.
1/3 of complaints (source: bbc news) that Lloyds received were fraudulent lies, that is to say, people sent in a complaint about how they were miss-sold a product they never had - they should be prosecuted for fraud but the banks are sucking up the costs and just rejecting them as if the customer made a mistake.
addedvaluebob was suggesting the MSE site encouraged people to make a claim regardless of whether they even had PPI which I was disputing - I agree the MSE site has done a great job in helping people get back unfairly charged PPI, I was defending the site pointing out that nowhere do they say to just complain about any financial product you had on the off chance they had PPISam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

One of the mysteries of the universe. Why do you keep recommending people take banks to court over credit card charges in the hope the bank will not defend?Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
