new phone has hijacked someone else's contacts!

OH picked up new Galaxy S6 yesterday at Ee shop. Salesman transferred his contacts from his old galaxy S4 to the new phone
Phone went live today and he took it out with him this evening. Went to send a text and saw that someone else's contacts had appeared in his contacts list in addition to his own. Not mine. Phone was new out of the box.
Any ideas what has happened?
