Evening.

We have two 500gb Humax Freesat PVRs - one on each of our TVs. One is brand new and one is about 18 months / 2 years old.

Despite each having two satellite cables connected neither can record two programmes at once or allow recording one channel whilst watching another
At first I thought they had been incorrectly installed and called back the engineers who came today.

They tested the cables; they changed the cables over to the other socket and they changed the outside connector. Nothing worked - no signal on tuner 2.

Then the engineer connected an old Sky box to the cables / TV and it showed two signals. So it's not the cabling.

We phoned up the Freesat technical support who got the engineer to do the cable swapping thing again and a software update - nothing worked and he concluded that both the boxes were faulty.

So, two boxes, same models but bought months apart having the same problem?

Have any of the boards techie folk known / heard of this before?

You need two cables to each box , unless the two programs are on the same transponder.
You need a quad LNB and 4 cables

How many tuners does diagnostics say your have? (guessing one). Try a factory reset.
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.

No, my bad, I didn't do the edit to include 'each' until after your reply. I thought I had made it all clear and obviously hadn't. :o

They are both Humax 100S 500gb Freetime / Freesat boxes.

Thanks. Would that mean we'd lose all the recorded programmes on the hard drive (all on the older one)?

Thanks for the info...armed with thst ill do a factory reset on the newer machine as there's nothing of any consequence on it. If it works I'll be content to use that one for two channel recording and the other one for watching live.

I'll report back later today when I've done the reset.

    Thanks again.

Mine stopped being able to record two channels for a while not long back

We had moved it whilst decorating and although everything looked like it was wired up correctly , moving it had put a strain on one cable so much that the wire wasn't actually in the silver end ( iykwim). Once we freed more cable up the box found it and all was good

Thanks for that Suki - that isn't the problem here as there is plenty of cable and the digital engineers have tested everything. It's the box.

Will do the factory restore now on the new one.
