Anyway of viewing local driving instructors pass rates so I can compare?

I knew a driving instructor once. He kept his pass rates artificially high by being extremely mean to people who he didn't have confidence in, they quit and found another tutor.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Could just lie about them. Nobody can check that they are telling the truth (as long as you don't say 100%).0

This only works if there's a shortage of driving instructors in the area, relative to instructors.
Not many businesses can afford to dissuade repeat custom, for whatever reason.0 -
the driving instructors through their various associations and trade bodies continually lobby the government depts. to prevent it happening.
There might well be suspicions about the few that have 100% pass rate. That sounds too much like the figure has been artificially fiddled somehow (one pass in early January, then remove their badge from tests for the rest of the year).
An ADI with a consistent pass rate well above the national average measured over at least three tests a month is one that I'd send my son or daughter to.
Any ADI who presents candidates for test almost every day of the year, sometimes twice a day, and has a p!ss poor pass rate is one to avoid as he/she is clearly just hiring out their car to people without caring a jot about the standard they're presenting. Imagine if the clueless fruits of their labours flukes a test and is unleashed onto the roads? Is that what we want on our roads? Those are the ADIs we need rid of. Those are also the ADIs who are desperately and endlessly lobbying to keep their crappy pass rates (and their car hire cash cow) a closely guarded secret.WestonDave wrote: »Compared to another who drags it out and gets another 4 or 5 lessons worth of cash out of you whilst sucking his teeth and saying that you aren't ready yet.
An honest instructor who tells it like it is, even if it's not want you want to hear, may well be saving you multiple test attempts at £62 a throw (not to mention the stress and heartache of failure) for the sake of more thorough tuition for the same or less money.0 -
Thanks for the constructive input guys!
I've done a bit of researching and asking around and believe I've found a good tutor with fair prices, a lot of positive reviews at taking everything at the learners pace ect0 -

This kinda thing is where local facebook groups are worth their weight in gold.
I think I was just lucky with mine - just picked the cheapest I could find! Got on with him very well, passed 2nd time in 14 weeks.
How would a system of monitoring pass rates work in practice? There would have to be an obligation for all test takers to declare who taught them.0 -
I went with personal recommendation and had a great instructor. Had weekly lessons and twice a week for the couple of weeks before my test.
Based on what I've heard, I wouldn't got with one of the big national companies - almost any instructor who's any good would set up on their own once they have enough experience. And don't go with one who expects you to collect the next pupil during your lesson / to be dropped off by the next pupil during their lesson - the only people in the car with the learner should be the instructor and, if necessary, a translator.0 -

Not really. If the learners get passed from instructor to instructor, after long enough (and enough instructors) they'll pass, and the last instructor will get the credit.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
