Three retention deals?
Has anyone had any luck with retention deals with Three? I am coming to the end of a year of 200mb and 500Mb data for £6.90 where I use an add-on of AYCE data for £5 for 30 days so £11.90 pm. I have just rung to see what they could offer but they were sticking rigidly to the website deal where I would have to pay £17 for 200 mins and AYCE. The equivalent deal to the one I'm on is £8 but doesn't look as though it includes the AYCE add-on. I pointed out that it would be cheaper to switch to a PAYG SIM and buy the £15 add-on each month but that's a bit of a hassle so would prefer not to have to. Also no tethering with that but I don't have it now so I'm not too bothered.
I decided to stay as I am at the moment although the lady said that they are migrating old tariffs so I'm not sure how long I've got. So back to my question. Has anyone got a good retention deal from Three or am I flogging a dead horse if I try again? Thanks.

Three seem to have been digging their heels in lately, for anyone on a reasonable deal it's probably better to stick with it until they push you onto something else.
Three used to have some really good deals on SIM only, but now they are no better than the rest and in many areas have painfully slow data rates too. Their 4G rollout seems to have stopped too.
I am on a legacy One Plan with two 30 day rolling contracts. It's £18 per month and there is nothing approaching it on the Three site, so I am sitting tight until they contact me. I understand a few customers manage to obtain a discount on an alternative SIM plan, but the majority do not.0 -

Three's behaviour is understandable to some extent, in my opinion.
They entered the market as the new comer in 2003. They udnercut everyone left right and centre. Now they are trying to make money rather than just introduce themselves to the UK telecoms market.
On top of this they are now bidding to buy out O2, so it is no surprise they have turned back the clock on their 4G roll-out.
I have to say though, they may be a bit tight-fisted, but Three have a great 3G/3G+ network. Wherever they are set up, they have got great coverage and their rural coverage has surprised me in recent years. Alway room for improvement though.0 -
I am being moved from my £15 one plan this month and all they offered was the website deals. including the 200mins/ult txt and data at £19 on a one month contract. Silly considering on payg you get 100 more mins for £15.
I am going to move to another network on payg and see if they start calling me once my number is transferred0 -
Thanks for all the comments. Seems a common theme that Three are sticking to their website deals. TB I don't think I can find a better deal on any other network than the £17pm deal they offer and the Feel At Home for holiday destinations is a clincher for me to stay with Three. I think I'll stay on the £6.90 deal for as long as they don't call me and then move to the £17 AYCE data deal.
Malky39, I don't think that Three would call you after your number is transferred. Your only hope would be that they would ring after you have your PAC code but before the transfer but from the look of the posts above and others I have seen I wouldn't be holding your breath.0 -
Having an £8 loyalty discount on my contract counted for nothing when I tried upgrading, all they offered was a £1 p/m discount on their web site deals so I requested my PAC, 30 days later no calls from them so I moved, seems they are tight these days.0

I have had loads of brilliant deals from three over the years, but it looks very unlikely that they will offer anything decent now.
I am coming to an end of my 2 years contract in October, currently on 300 minutes, 2000 3 to 3 minutes, 5000 texts and AYCE data for £11. Oh and I also got a Lumia 520 with that0
