Hi Ellie,
It's gone up by about 8-9% since it first went on the market?
Do u know why the seller of your home took so long to sell?0 -
You just cannot tell with some people!
We had an asking price offer rejected by one vendor because they wanted to sell at the end of 2015, despite having out the house on the market January 2015! The house is still on the market (at the same asking price), but I don't think it's really for sale...."Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." Ho Catshark,
Sorry to hear that's happened to you. Have you found smth else now?
That's what worries me about this house also.
Some sellers are so confusing.0 -

What???? Its gone up?? Yet still not selling? Seems strange!
We are in Scotland, where we have Home Reports - the seller has to get a simple 'survey' and valuation done by a surveyor. The valuation of the house was high. The sellers no doubt were given a false sense of what they could sell for and they held out for it, but then after a long time became realistic and dropped the price. They accepted an offer within a couple weeks of dropping price, but that buyer's mortgage fell through which was when we swooped in!0 -
Yes, I think the vendor on this property has also been hoping for a lot more hence putting the price up every year.
When we viewed the EA was saying that he has received quite a few offers but buyer hasn't been reasonable enough to accept any of these.
But then again, EA also didn't seem to know, or so he claimed, that the property had been on the market for another 2 years, with 2 other EAs, before marketing with them.0 -
Kinda like this one:
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-33389985.html
12 months ago it was up for £550k if I recall correctly.
Since then the price has been up and down like a tart's knickers;
600, 650, 625, OIEO 600, 585, 615, 685 and now 675. Every 3 months a new agent takes it on and puts the price up, then lowers it. This agent though, has had it a while and apparently they've had offers but the old chap hasn't found anywhere to buy.
You do have to wonder what the sellers and their agent are thinking.
It's got time waster written all over it, and, to my mind, that does extend to the agent(s) too...
Or there's this one:

Looks suspiciously like this one:

Hi everyone,
Quick update.
Offer has now been accepted verbally (hooray)
At asking price (boo)
But not in writing (Booooo)
It's been nearly a week since the offer was accepted verbally and nearly 2 weeks since I first made the offer and the letters still can't go out as the vendor hasn't instructed his solicitor yet.
The house has been on and off the market for 3 yrs, on the market with ea for nearly a year and there is no chain, he's had my offer for nearly two weeks, I would've thought that he had plenty of time to find a solicitor. It even seems the EA recommended him a solicitor but he hasn't instructed them yet, so EA can't send the letters out.
I've made it clear to the EA and even made it a condition of my offer that we complete without any unnecessary delay.
I don't understand what's going on.
If he was in a chain and searching for a property himself, or applying for mortgage or simply looking for somewhere to move, I'd understand. But he doesn't live in the house, never has, I'm offering the asking price on a house that needs a lot of work, so what's the hold up?
I've already applied for the mortgage and paid for the valuation, the EA say they'll chase him but I'm getting very worried now.0 -
After all this time on the market maybe he's a bit shell shocked to finally have to get sorted with this kind of thing!0
-
Oh, thats great news!
We were 3 weeks + 2 days after we had our offer accepted (verbally) until our solicitor actually received anything from their solicitor!!! That was frustrating for us, we thought they had changed their minds!! We move in next week!
Hope it all goes well!0 -
Hi Ellie, that's great news about you moving next week. And scary news! Can't believe a vendor would take so long to instruct their solicitors. Were they looking to buy elsewhere or what caused the delay?
So exchange went all smoothly and completion date scheduled for next week?0
