Child benefit help

I have just found out that the child benefit rules changed in 2013 for earners above £50000. I have earned between 50-60000 every year since then. My wife does not work. I have not declared it or heard anything asking for money back. What should I do? I can't afford to pay it back and certainly cannot afford any fines that may come along too...
Am I really so stupid that I am only just hearing about this now?

You can't afford a little over one months salary?0

No. Your response isn't really helpful either.0

HMRC are supposed to have written to everyone earning over £50k about this. Are you sure your taxable income after any work pension contributions was over £50k?0

It may not have been to start with but it will be now. My wife may well have received the letter and not realised, although she knew at least roughly how much I earn!0 -
Come clean or you're risking more... they should be able to adjust tax code to allow
As others say, pension contributions may well reduce (or even eliminate) the issue0 -
