You probably didn't have much choice! ;)

How very true, the only way to get any performance out of a 1mhz chip.

I was about to ask the same question. Sounds to me like some FUD from some euro skeptics...

My mate runs the IT systems for many of the local schools, he was given a comp science graduate to help his daily tasks.
This individual didn't know how to format a HDD, install windows AND tried to plug a USB keyboard into a parallel port.

I mean........ This is basic stuff, anyone remotely interested in their subject should know this a long time before going near any educational establishment.

None of that stuff is computer science and so certainly shouldn't be taught as part of a computer science degree.

    I taught myself 6809E assembly when I was 13 ;)
    Dragon 32?

I taught myself 6502 when I was 14, but had a computer with an amazing assembler built into the BASIC ROM. Z80 before that. but the Spectrums had to be sent back to Sinclair under guaranteed so often that I gave up and got a refund (six in a year?).

I did play with Spectrums as a kid, but my first serious computer was a 6800 based Atari - had it for 10 years! Learned programming, graphics, music production on it :)

It wouldn't surprise me, they want to stop people working on their own cars too.
It would be pretty silly to stop people building PCs

There you go. How to start a rumour.
Let's not talk about this again until someone actually shows us some evidence about what 'THEY' want to do...
