  • Do Not send originals as you will never get them back. I learned that lesson the hard way!

The problem is that many government departments will only accept originals unless they have been copied in a location which can stamp them as true copies. I certainly don't blame people not wanting to send originals in but there are situations where there is no practical alternative.
  • I had to send original documents for a recent tax credit compliance case.
I sent them all in an a4 envelope by recorded delivery so I knew they had received them. The case was then sorted out fairly quickly and they said they would send them back, and to be fair I did receive all of my original documents back, it just took a lot longer than you think it should, and my payments still haven't sorted themselves out yet!
They wouldn't accept copies, so don't waste your time sending them in. Find out if they need all 70 pages, then find out if there is an office you can go to and hand them in or if you have to post them. If it's an office, see if the staff can take copies of the originals there and then for you and certify they are the originals for you. I wouldn't waste your time or money having them copied yourself, save your money for recorded delivery postage options! Good luck.
  • I've always sent copies. I've attached a note stating I'm sending copies and will bring originals to an assessment but I will not be posting originals.

Ive never had an issue. I claim ESA SG and DLA.

I just sent off about 20 pages in the end. A lot of what I have are copies anyway ( reports from OH) - many printed off the computer as emailed through. I just copied them.

Most libraries let you scan and email docs for free on their copier.

Its 10p per sheet to copy though!
Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.
