I have nearly completed all the research of my family tree using Ancestry.co.uk.
I have managed to create a GEDCOM file.
I want now to be able to publish the family tree onto a CD/DVD so that I can distribute it to family members.
Can anyone suggest a decent software program that would allow me to do this?

I use GRAMPS to produce a "Narrated Web Site" Report which is like a mini-website that you can browse with your normal Internet Browser (IE,FF etc). Just save the entire folder onto memory stick, CD,DVD etc.
You just click onto one of the HTML files and you can browse the entire database.

GRAMPS 3.4.9 is the most stable version and is also available as a Portable app. Avoid the later version is under development and for "advanced users only". The best bit is it is FREE (donations welcome tho).
GEDCOM can be imported so should be no problem

Search for Brothers Keeper, free but share ware without a time limit
They will need to install it on their PCEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

OP, why don't you just invite people to view your tree on Ancestry?
You don't need to allow them update capability if you don't want to.0 -
I use Legacy on PC for my tree, which has more personal info than I include on Ancestry. But you can download a GEDCOM from Ancestry, load it into Legacy & use the data to produce PDF reports (individuals, family groups, ancestor narrative reports, descendants of a particular person etc etc). These can be saved & shared.0

Thanks, have downloaded and have had an initial play around.
I imported my GEDCOM data and managed to produce a static page.
Its a challenging program for me but I will give it some time and try to get to grips!
Jim. couldn't find a download for version 3.4.9 only version 4.1.3?0
