The £432 is right. £220 for 16/17, £212 for 15/16. If validated, the £212 will be directly refunded, see end of Consumerist's last post.0 -
I transferred my allowance to my husband towards the end of March, and his new code was applied for 16/17. He filled in a tax rebate form online at HMRC for 15/16, and has just had the £200-odd owed for that year deposited straight into his bank account this afternoon :-))0

They did get it right - the advisor I spoke to got it wrong
And Yes it would. Of course it would be ludicrous to think that - if that is what I had actually thought - which it isn't.
Not knowing anything other than what I read on here about applying I admit I took the advisor at their word - I didn't know if it would be paid to me as I was the one having to make the claim or to my partner. Between us we had agreed that I would keep anything that was backdated whether or not it was paid to me or him ( I never said I expected it or had a right to it) and he would keep all of the future increase in wages received because of the change.
I believed the advisor when they said anything backdated would be paid to me. ( not that I was entitled to it) So that just seemed simpler for us when the advisor said that as it meant my partner didn't need to give me the backdated amount as we had personally agreed as I would get it directly.
As it turned out my partner changed his mind on what we had decided and so he was now going to keep it - not because of getting it right or being daft to expect anything but because of what we had privately between us agreed as being a nice thing to do he no longer wanted to do.
At the end of the day he will only get it if I apply to transfer my allowance so we had thought we would both benefit which would be nice.
I'm sorry you misread my post in any way to imp,y that I thought I was simple enough to think I was entitled to it0 -
"If you transfer £1,060 of your 2015/16 allowance to your husband, it is he who will receive the back-dated cheque because it would have been his tax allowance which would have increased thereby reducing his tax bill.
If you re-apply to transfer the allowance to your husband, it will still be he who receives the back-dated cheque. What he does with the money, once received, is entirely up to him."
I know - it was a private arrangement between us0 -
I know - it was a private arrangement between ourselves0

hello need some help. transferred the marriage allowance to hubby and he did his self assessment. they had sent a letter with his new tax code so we knew everything was going well. self assessment all good until it said at the end it was done on his old tax code. we rang and they said it would be amended so we just waited and then we received his rebate but without the marriage allowance. he rang them and its a different excuse everytime as to why it has not been paid. we were told last week and that it was being processed and would take 5 working days. checked yesterday and there is still nothing there. i can see that some people have received theirs so i was wondering if anyone else is having the same problem as we were told by tax office that this has happened to lots of people.
many thanks0 -

i applied a long time ago too so not sure why it has affected us everytime we ring its a different excuse from them. i checked the news letter and its for tax codes between april 2014 to october 2015. there is nothing wrong with my codes its that they used the old code not the marriage allowance code even though the letters we have received use the new code and their calculation letter uses the new code and has marriage allowance of £212 stated on the letter. i have looked back on this thread and some people have experienced the same thing so wanted to see if they had any luck getting the money paid to them. we were told that it would be released on 13th may but its apparently their system has not updated itself.0
