NT - means no tax should be deducted.
0T - means no personal allowance.

NT can be used in bankruptcy cases - http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/pommanual/PAYE11010.htm#IDAOVO0B

I think they would need to call HMRC. As far as I am aware, even an NT code is used, tax still ultimately needs to be paid, it just isn't deducted at source.

In a bankcruptcy case the tax due while NT code in operation is a liability of the bankcruptcy.

If the bankcruptcy is replaced by a voluntary arrangement then NT code is removed and any tax due os payable by the person as part of the voluntary arrangement.

We are due to get married on the 1st April this year, can I apply in advance to get the tax code changed before the end of the tax year as technically we will be married in this tax year (just)?

If we cant does anyone know if I can retrospectively claim it back for this year?

I would apply online on 2 April so that you are married on the application date. You can sort out the details at a later date if necessary.

Allowing retrospective claims is being discussed by MPs but, as far as I know, a decision has not yet been made.

Do I need to re-register for the marriage allowance this tax year coming ?
Or does it automatically continue from last TY ?
Is the amount increasing this coming TY from £1060 ?

Got my new tax code and refund for last year magic
  • My husband applied to transfer allowance to me a while ago. My tax code hasn't yet been amended, but he's recently received an email from hmrc asking for bank details so that they can transfer the £198 tax owed direct to him :mad. We took this to be a spam email and deleted it, but wondered if others have received the same. Also, how long does it take for the allowance to come through as it's months since we were accepted. Is this normal in your experience?:A

Have you both been issued with a new coding notice? Perhaps the issue is with your employer not updating it?

If your husband transferred the allowance to you he must have been earning below the taxable limit therefore he would not have paid any tax to be refunded.

You should receive and amended code number giving you the extra allowance and you would receive any refund due when the new code was operated against your income.

Most people seem to be receiving their new code numbers quickly so I would suggest you contact HMRC to see what is happening.

So - simple question. For their 2015/6

    Income from pensions etc £4480
    Savings Income £6602

    Total £11,802

Can I transfer the £1060 allowance to my spouse or not?
