Wrong item received (online purchase)

Options
Hi

I ordered a custom picture online from printed.com. Today my neighbor handed me my courier.
When I opened it, it's the wrong item for somebody else as it's personal message.

I contacted the company and they told me they are sorry and will print and send an other one out.

Asked me to send them the picture of the item I received.
Anything else I can do ? or entitled to. ?

Can I also contact the other person whose item I received by mistake.
As it got email and website address on it.

Thanks

I wouldn't pay to send it back; I would just inform the company that the item is available for collection at a time convenient to you.

I don't understand what your post is asking...

    You ordered item X

They send you the wrong one in error

You contacted them to report this error

They offer to send you the correct one, and ask for a picture so that they can rectify the issue for another customer too

Anything else you can do? Aside from send in the picture as requested, no

Entitled to? Umm, the cost of the electricity used to upload a picture and send it via email?

Can I also contact the other person whose item I received by mistake.

You can if you want, but personally I wouldn't for one simple reason. The message is personalised, so may be a bit private. They might not appreciate knowing that a stranger has seen it. Better to let the company resolve it instead (including by following the advice given by NYGiants)

You are entitled to get what you paid for, and not be out of pocket sending the incorrect item back.
If you mean compensation then no, mistakes happen. You might get a goodwill gesture of a few % off this or your next order, but don't anticipate it.

    Hey
    Thanks for all your replies.

Actually the thing is I paid little extra for the item to be delivered to me on Monday/Tuesday as it was needed for today. (work related and custom large format printing).
But since they have sent me the wrong one, now the project will have to be hold and they all blame me for choosing lousy company.

Also when I say personal message on the wrong item I received. It's not personal 'per say'. But what I meant/mean is it's custom. Basically it's a banner for a new start-up which I assume is for outdoor (judging from the quality).

By entitlement I meant where do I stand since they did not deliver as promised. And what about the waste time ?

I know some of you might say, why not had it delivered to work place.
For this project we were not allowed any deliveries at work place. I don't know for whatever reasons, all they say "health safety and security"

And I am sorry if I wasn't clear in my first post.
I am at work, so doing 10 things at a time. And gets panicked.

Appreciate all your help and answers.
    Thanks

Yeah even % off on next order is amazing.
That is all I want. Not looking for cash.

But nothing like this was mentioned when I spoke to customer services.
All she said "Sorry, I will have a new one printed and sent out. Is there anything else you need ?"
And as soon as I said, No that's all! she disconnected the call. :|

They made a mistake and they put it right as soon as they knew. I don't think you can ask much more than that.

Where you had it delivered to doesn't matter, but I do think it's odd that your workplace expects you to have work items delivered to your home address.

Why would she offer you some money off when your response suggested you were perfectly happy with the resolution offered?

Phone back, complain that it was needed by X date and you aren't happy that you paid extra for this and have now got the wrong item so the additional postage cost was 'wasted'. They might then offer to refund the additional postage or a goodwill gesture against future purchases. They might not. But you won't know unless you ask.

As it's a B2B transaction you don't have any consumer rights (not that you had any in this case anyway) so refer to your terms of contract as to what you are entitled too.

But my real question is why on earth would you want to contact the person the parcel was meant for?

    Thanks for the reply.
I was not happy. And I did tell her that. Her response was, there is nothing I can do.
They were aware that it was needed by x date.
I did call and i have been waiting for a call back since morning.

    Hey thanks for the input.
It was not B2B transaction. I bought as an individual as an end consumer. The item bought was going to be used at the work place. All paid from my own pocket.
It was for a project at work. (prototype thing)

Wanted to contact the other person to see if they have received the item and to inform I have got theirs. :undecided
