Alexanda Hamilton group

Options
Hi all, has anyone used Alexanda Hamilton group before?

I purchased a chocolate making course through Groupon last year, booked in the date easily, no problem at all! We then had an email the week before the course date saying the course had been cancelled due to a shortage of numbers. We booked it back in again for March of this year only for the same thing to happen again. I phoned them up to ask for a refund, but got told I had to write a letter. Sent the letter off recorded delivery, and followed this up at the beginning of April. I was told the refund would be processed and a cheque would be with me within 10 working days. 10 days followed, called up and they said they didn't have any record of the refund, after much arguing, they realised there mistake and advised they would call me back. Guess who didn't call me back?!
After several phone calls later (they tend not to answer everytime now, and have changed their number) they said the CEO had decided to change the refund date (for all refunds) to the 13th of every month, and that my cheque would be sent out. This phone call was on the 10th May, I have yet been able to get hold of anyone by phone, I've messaged them on Facebook and keep getting told they're waiting to hear from there finance department (person!)
I've contacted Groupon, but they're not helping. I'm owed £46 but can't get my money back, does anyone have any ideas on my next steps? it's so frustrating!!

Your contract is with Groupon, so you need to pursue Groupon over this.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Hello, I bought a candle making course through wow cher from them. They responded quickly when I tried to book the deal abut 6 weeks ago, but the course is meant to be this weekend, and I have had no actual details of the venue and time etc. I tried emailing the address that I had my original response from, but got a postmaster error. I tried their general email and have heard nothing. Today I have tried to phone them, and it went straight to voice mail. I tried their Facebook page via the link on the email, but it doesn't exist. Their website is down, looks like long term, so I have contacted wowcher and requested a refund.

Scammed or gone bust by the looks of things
  • Well, many people apparently had the same issue, looks like they don't like to give refunds

I was lucky, booked something on wowcher through paypal, gave up after asking wowcher for a refund and received a refund through paypal within days.

Wowcher have refunded my money, but only as wowcher credit that expires in 3 months as I redeemed the voucher. I'm really not happy at this, I want my money back in the way I paid as I can't be sure I'll use it in 3 months (or at all)

Raised original concern with Groupon before voucher expiry - Alexanda Hamilton contacted me to get my voucher details and book a course date. I didn't ever receive any further communication.

Went back to Groupon today as hadn't received any details for the course. They agreed a refund to my payment card without argument. So others should be able to achieve this too.

I feel that Wowcher/Groupon should have stopped advertising the deals much sooner and had responsibility to proactively contact people who had purchased vouchers (by this stage, the business has gone into liquidation which I always suspected was the intention).

I also booked a chocolate making course for my mum. They only had dates for July so thought 'fair enough' gave them the voucher as requested and put the date in the diary. Both me and my mum and a middle aged woman (she said she had also booked to do it at Leicester I think it was but they cancelled 'due to numbers') and rebooked her to the Nottingham one. turned up, no one was there. Tried the number, no answer. There website also doesn't exist either. Asked at reception in the building and they said loads had been and they hadn't had a booking from them since November! Managed to speak to someone at Groupon, said they would do the refund but didn't hear anything so messaged on facebook and got my refund a week or so later

If you have booked with them I would go back to who you booked with as there having a jolly on all our money. I think about 200 booked with groupon so someone's made £5k for nothing basically

  • Similar deal here except I got messed around with dates (only available months in advance because they're fully booked, then cancelled days before event because of low numbers, then again next available date is in 5 months).

I've been waiting for a reply directly from Alexanda Hamilton on a refund, but heard nothing in months. From Company Check it appears the company was registered to one Mohinder Panesar, who has 9 active companies to his name, including a newly created Alexanda Hamilton Events Ltd, although Alexanda Hamilton Ltd has now gone into liquidation. I've since reported this to the police via the Fraud and Cyber Crime prevention website. Will get in touch with living social to request a refund too. Suggest more people do the same, as they're clearly still in operation in one guise or another!
