BSB (Bank State Branch) Number/Code

Options
Hi All. About BSB (Bank State Branch) Number which is also known as BSB Code. I would have two questions. If anyone is experienced with those kind of banking details, please answer me. Before I ask, I would like to say that when mentioning the term ''financial institution'', this is meant both banks and also credit unions as well as so called savings institutions. So definitely not just banks.

First question: I am trying to collect list of countries where financial institutions are identified with BSB Number/Code. As country is meant every single one worldwide, regardless how unknown it is, regardless if is just island or not. Firstly I thought the only country which have financial institutions identified with BSB Number/Code is Australia but more I am researching that topic, more I see that there are wide range of other countries who are also such identified. One of such country, which such financial institutions, is Vanuatu. My question is: Where could I get full list of countries where financial institutions/branches are defined/identified with BSB Number/Code?

Second question: Does exist, and if yes where could i get it, 100% complete database of ALL BSB numbers/codes given for each and every financial institution within each and every country based on my first question above? I don't know if one financial institution (same one) has all around the country same bsb code or not. Obviously I am referring to physical location depending on street/building address (or call center if online based with no physical branches) and not registration location. Big difference since if X financial institution is registered in A country, it could have physical foreign locations in B country too. Also I don't know if foreign branches of SAME financial institution have the same BSB as home-based (country of registration = country of physial location) ones. So in this question I am asking where to get entire huge list of all BSB numbers for each and every one in each and every country?

Thank you, kindest regards.

BSB (Bank State Branch) is simply the Australian version of our UK "Sort Codes"

They are both internal to the country and mean nothing by themselves to other countries, in other words they do not identify the bank uniquely in the world without additional information.

See the Wikipedia pages for more info:
    Australian BSBs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_State_Branch
    Bank Codes worldwide: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_code

P.S. The International Bank Account Number (IBAN) might be nearer to what you are after: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Bank_Account_Number

May I ask why you need such a list as you describe ?

It certainly cannot be for any use as a private individual investor, and if you were part of a legitimate business you would have ways and means of obtaining this info without asking on an open forum in a country half way around the world from where it would appear that you are.

All sounds a bit suspicious to me...............

Thanks to both of you for reply.

Reaper: I had done research before I decided to post my two questions here. Obviously I visited those three webpages whos links you provided. However, they don't match neither of my questions. There is no country called ''Northern Territory'' and I am searching for one type of code, called ''BSB'' for all countries. Not just for Australia (still referring to first link you provided) and not two types of code but one type: BSB. Second link is completely against my questions. So is third one. IBAN is not even close to BSB.

Steelbru: It is for SAP needs. I appreciate your remaining of reply but neither word is anyhow related to my two questions so I cannot comment it/them.

SAP as an international giant will be able to obtain information its often also international clients require through official channels. They won't need to rely on individuals obtaining information from a random internet forum.

I appreciate that English isn't your first language but it's not easy to work out what you're looking for.

Are you interested in all countries which have a BSB code or do you want a list of the codes used in each country? I've only ever seen BSB in relation to Australia (Northern Territories is part of Australia, incidentally).

People legitimately working with SAP don't need to get their information from random internet forums.

It's a state in Australia. The "S" in BSB means "State"

I don't know how to say it plainer. Each country has its own version. Australia has BSB, the UK has sort codes. In the same way for addresses the USA has zip codes and the UK has post codes. They are not compatible.
IBAN is not even close to BSB.
The BSB is NOT a universal list of banks. Just Australian ones. Either you want Aussie ones in which case use BSB, or you want universal codes in which case look at SWIFT (for banks) and IBAN (for accounts).

You mention Vanautu uses BSB too. If so I can find no mention of it. Their banks seem to quote SWIFT such as here: http://www.nbv.vu/contact.html

Unless you can be more specific as to what (legitimate) purpose the information is for I don't think we can be of any more help.

I'm feeling in a pedantic mood so I'll point out that Northern Territories is a territory of Australia rather than a state. To be fair, I only found this out very recently.

To be even more pedantic, it's Northern Territory, singular.
