  • Clutching at straws?

Have you seen the data and predictions or just read media headlines? Lol.

A lot of current predictions are talking about oil going no higher than $80 a barrel for the for the foreseeable future. Reasons for the this are improved extraction technology and a drop in demand due to more efficient technology and green electricity generation.

If you want to see what happens when you force the pace of green technology look at Germany which now has the highest electricity prices in Europe.

Talking about renewable heat not electricity, completely different things. Changing the topic doesn't help, again clutching at straws....? Although if you are going to bring up chp, which can be the only posiblilty by talking about electricity in a thread about heating! biomass chp is starting to come on the market and is proving extremely cost effective!

If there's one thing everyone should learn over the past decade in the markets it's that predictions are meaningless, and there's no such thing as an expert.

Actually, that's been the rule since markets started, but few people seem to learn the lessons and just chase headlines.

This report written in 2014 is very good, and also highlights the problem about the renewables debate is centred around electricity where the majority of energy consumption is heating and not electricity.

That's hardly an independent report it's been commissioned by a supplier of renewable heating products.

Solid multi fuel is the cheapest if you can't get mains gas, and its even cheaper if you can find a source of free fuel

Every report in history has been commission by an interested party , that's why they use independent researchers and reporters

You joined today, made 3 posts promoting heat pumps and your posting name is the same as(presumably) the name of your firm, which is not allowed on MSE.

Your claim that heat pumps are 50% cheaper to run than oil is a nonsense.

Oil is currently around 32pence a litre. A litre contains 10.2kWh. So the price per kWh is approx. 3.2p. Then take into account the efficiency of the boiler which can be 90%. However taking it as, say, 80% that gives a price of 4p/kWh.

The energy saving trust(EST) carried our a 2 year trial of air source heat pumps The average system COP achieved was 2.45. Taking electricity at 12p/kWh the cost is 4.9p/kWh. so not 50% cheaper but 22% more expensive.

Then you need to take into account that a heat pump has to run very long hours - even 24/7 to be effective. So if you are out during the day, and at night when you are in bed, the heat pump is running and wasting heat. With oil/gas CH the boiler can be set to come on, say, 20 mins before you get in after work or get up in the morning.

On RHI you neglect to mention the criteria necessary to qualify for payment.

I would advise you to look in to heat pumps they are around 50% cheaper to run than an oil boiler and also you will receive quarterly payments from the government that will cover the cost of the installation

    - 5 posts all flogging an individual company and a heat pumps
    - spam elsewhere my friend
