Seller cancelled all viewings

So this property went up on Rightmove on Saturday.
We phoned the estate agent on Saturday and the earliest they could do was Tuesday.
The estate agent phones up saying they have already accepted an offer today (Monday) and want to cancel further viewings.
We are pretty miffed that they have not allowed at least the booked viewings to continue, especially as we liked it so much we were talking about offering over the asking price, even more if it went to best offers.
We tried to explain this to the estate agent but they were like "well we work for the seller and they have requested this". For their point of view, their job is done and it's not worth anymore manpower for a bit of extra comission.
Do you think it's worth giving the sellers a knock on the door?

No, they've accepted an offer they are happy with, and if they were the kind of people to go back on that and let somebody else gazump, they wouldn't be the kind of people you'd want to deal with anyway!
It sucks when you miss an opportunity, but other houses will come along, good luck in your search!0 -
If they've accepted an offer, then they have accepted an offer = end of. To pursue this now would mean you would be attempting to gazump the agreed buyer.
I'm surprised at the vendor not having all the other viewers in and then accepting the offer they wanted after all those viewings had been held (as they might have got a higher offer). But, ultimately, it was their choice to do so.
End of story.0 -
A letter rather than a knock could be a better approach. (We were disappointed to hear you are no longer considering other offers, we are very interested in your property blah blah blah). Face to face might be seen to be a bit confrontational.
However if they've made their mind up, they've made their mind up. You might not like it but there's nothing you can do about it. It may be the person offering is a family friend or something who was offered first dibs.0 -

We did exactly same when sold few months back.
On the day of listing, received asking price offer. Buyer seemed genuine with no chain and good deposit.
So I asked EA to cancel all viewings because I achieved what I wanted. Viewing house is a hassle of its own and I had no intention to waste time showing people around when I already got good offer.
Some other buyers, just like OP, said to EA they could have offered more than asking price!
In fact, one buyer who viewed on same day said he'd offer over asking price. But in reality he didn't put any offer!
If I'd have received multiple offers at or above asking price then it would have been very difficult to choose one because price is not the only factor - chain, deposit, speed to proceed etc. are all relevant too.
Good news is that my original buyer completed the sale.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -
No,
Its the sellers decision at the end of the day. Its their decision to make, maybe the offer on the table was too good to turn down, regardless as to what anybody else could offer...!0 -
I stuck mine on on a Thursday, accepted offer on Saturday, with relief. Straight off the market. No more need to keep it immaculate, no need to buy cut flowers, back to being a slob, with a half-bottle of (cheap) wine on the table. Cats can sleep where and when they want (and so can I).
Last thing I want is more viewings. Happy with the price, and with the buyer (so far).
Frankly, I'd put your energy in to looking elsewhere. You have no "right" to view, or anything like that. I wouldn't feel miffed - just try to feel pleased for the seller.0 -
Frustrating but shows the seller has some integrity. I offered over on condition no more viewings were allowed which they accepted.0

When I offered full asking price on the house I'm buying I did it on the agreement that here were no further viewings. The vendor was happy with this - we'd offered the price they wanted to achieve and had already produced an AIP to show we weren't time wasters, so it was take off the market as soon as they accepted.
If they had continued viewings on the off chance that someone might offer more money I would have been pretty cheesed off and might have withdrawn my offer, because I couldn't afford to get in to a bidding war and wasn't interested in playing games.0 -

i'm with you there. Spent all weekend up to my eyes in Magnolia paint and about 5 tester pots dabbling bits everywhere to correct blemishes. The child was cable tied so could not make a mess and the wife was shouted at every time she moved something out of place. Viewings this week are booked. I'll be glad when I can stop buying glade plug in's and fresh flowers. Thankfully, I don't have a log burner in this one as it cost me £100 in wood to fire up the potential viewers last time round.
I just hope the loft can take all the rubbish we shoved up there.0 -

Totally agree!
You can always note your interest to the EA. That way if the sale falls through they can contact you.0
