Tax credits investigation concentrix

Ok im panicing even through my OH says it will be fine dont worry. My partner was made redundant end of 2013 by march 2014 he managed to grab a job working 30 hrs a week as a support worker. Each week has different hours some weeks he works 25 others 40, he is either owing hours or owed hours (more often owed). BUT HE GETS PAID FOR 30 hours a week regardless (unless he does over time which he grabs with both hands).
We have 3 children and I stay at home with the baby.
Today we recieved a letter saying they wanted evidence of our jobs and working hours and have asked for bank statement, wage slips, contract (which is fine) but then asks for what he works on week to week basis. Its flexable work no week are the same. Will we be in trouble for the weeks where he worked under 30 but still got paid for 30?? Worried sick at the moment.

I am not sure how they would know. Surely all you need to send them is wage slips which shows 30 hours x whatever his hourly rate is.

Its very hard, i have the same problem, i have sent off all my wage slips, however my hours vary, i did say on average 25 hours a week, and if i had to phone them everytime my hours changed then i would be phoning them all the time.
  • I think if they average out over the year as 30 per week you will be fine.
When I went through compliance few years ago they were very fair when I over claimed I wasn't given the fine just had to pay money back over 12 months.

I'm now been investigated by concentrix and I'm still waiting my outcome but I don't know if they follow the same guidelines or if they will be as fair!

I'm slightly out on my childcare figures but I estimated I don't know how they will handle this hopefully the same as compliance did few years back

I will update once I know outcome.
  • Worse case you will have to pay back the 30 hour element which probably isn't that much!

Its definitely over 30hrs averaged a week because he did overtime on top. Hes owed 15hrs too at the moment but all his payslips show a basic wage (30hrs a week) then the overtime per hour if any. Im just shocked we received the letter and feel like we have been accused of fraud.

I understand that but the way it was worded was as if they suspected us of being dodgy rather than checking. they will be sent off asap x
  • I do think the letter sound like they accuse you. I think this is to scare people into confessing where they are in the wrong!

But saying that I do think they already have done some digging before they send the letters.

my letter states they think my payments are wrong !!

So how do they know that before they have the info!

I sent them special delivery I also rang to check they have them scanned on the system. I was told to expect them back in couple weeks and to ring in two weeks to check progress but was told they might ring or write to me for more info !
