You have my sympathy, i think i'm currently been investigated too, though proving my hours worked will be a pain even though i know ive worked as many hours as declared :o (not to self always keep payslips)

Thats what i dont understand? How can they think our payments are wrong? The thing is I havent even done the renewal yet, and even through he done the odd shift here and there more, when we rang up in the past they had told us to just write down what we earned at the end of the year. I am totally confused. I know we are 100% not in the wrong.

You can't average your hours out over a year for tax credits.

I don't understand why the employer is paying him for 30 hours every week if he isn't working 30 hours each week.

Are you saying that when he works under 30 hours in one week he then has to make those hours up another week?

I think if you sent the payslips as evidence of the hours worked then there would be no issue. If the payslips show hours worked then i can't see that they would look any further.

His shifts are flexable he never knows how many or what days hes working week by week and given notice a week before. Its terrible hours, but its 30 hrs a week, if he does a few weeks at 20,25, 28 then they will push in longer hour weeks, 40, 42, 35 so that it will even out to 30 a week. one month he could be averaging 25 the next 40 but he is still paid 30 hours.
