Transferring shares to Halifax

I have some shares held in Equinity and others held in TD Waterhouse which I am going to transfer to my Halifax share dealing account. None of these are held in an ISA, but I will be transferring them in later.

I am confused as to what forms I should be sending and I am wondering if anyone has recently transferred any shares to Halifax.

There are two forms on the website,

1. Transfer form D

2. Broker transfer form

Both are sent to the stock administration dept, but one at Leeds and one at Halifax. I cannot see why there are two different forms for what seems to be the same thing.

Without seeing the forms I'd assume one is for transferring shares to another person and the other is for change of broker.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

They are requesting the same information. I think I'll just ring them before I post out today.

Transfer form D is the one to send, the other one I was told was for different administrators to use.

Both are for transferring shares to Halifax.

I think you'll find that one is for transferring share certificates, the other is for transferring shares from a nominee account, like Easyshare, where you don't have an actual share certificate, but instead receive an annual statement of your holding.

Neither are for certificates - both ask for the name of the nominee accounts that the shares are being transferred from.

The one that I was told not to use had a drop down list which did have the nominee companies my shares are currently in, and the shares that I have - but I have filled in the other one that I was advised to.

Now all I need to do is post the forms
