Mazuma and Royal Mail
Hi guys, first post so go easy on me and hope you can help with your views.:o
I sold my old mobile to Mazuma and they sent me a package to post my phone to them All packed up and free tracked 48 hour sticker attached I popped to my post office this morning to post and get a receipt as per instructions from Mazuma.
Unfortunately the nice (she was nice actually) lady behind the counter said that she was unable to accept the package as it was on a "not approved list" and that the label could be fraudulent. I said so Mazumas website, labels and instruction leaflet are all wrong? She said she didn't know about that but that she couldn't accept the package.
My plan of action is to confirm with Royal Mail by phone tomorrow and then contact Mazuma... Anyone have a view or experience regarding this?

When you say it was not on the approved list did she explain why? Phones can be sent through the post so long as the battery is attached.0

Thanks for the reply.
She did show me a list of prepaid stickers that they could accept and showed me that my sticker wasn't on it... Didn't seem interested in the package or contents at all.
'Tis all most strange... :cool:0 -
Try a different Post Office.0

Yes I did think of that but too easy... If Mazuma and RM confirm there is no issue (as I suspect they will) I will be back on Monday with the nice lady that has inconvenienced me for no apparent reason so she can accept my parcel and I can accept her apology :j0

Hi, you don't explain exactly what labels you have attached but as long as there is a "lithium battery handling label" it should be accepted.0

Hi Keith the label is a Royal Mail tracked 48 to the company with barcodes and references... no mention of the contents on the sticker and as I said before the postie worker wasn't concerned about what was in the pack it was the label but I take your point.
Well just spoke to RM and it was explained to me that the freepost tracked 48 and the packaging provided by Mazuma does not provide the £50 RM insurance that Mazuma claims it does. RM have been in long discussion with this company trying to resolve this but to no avail and have now had to stop accepting packages! Still will not be accepted even if I upgrade the packaging. I could pay to send this item myself but that will obviously cut into the value I recover from this phone.
New plan, speak to Mazuma on Monday... :mad:0 -
Hi again, since one phone went missing a few years ago I have since always paid around £6 to send them via special delivery which covers then for up to £500.
I think you getting different responses at different post offices.
If you tell them the truth and state that there is a mobile phone and internal lithium battery enclosed you are supposed to add the extra lithium warning label.
If you lie and say it's some other item they won't know but if it goes missing and you have to claim the lie will come back to bite you.
The last couple I have sent had to have the extra label once I told them there was a mobile enclosed. There is a link on the Royal Mail site to print off the required label.0 -

Wouldn't the PO already know its a mobile phone in the package being it say Mazuma on the label and Mazuma only deal in mobile phones
The OP said its down to insurance that Mazuma won't pay so nothing to do with what's in the package.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.0 -
As lithium batteries are one of the restricted items the package should have the special label on along with a contact number so they can ring you where necessary.
I realise that in this case the problem was down to the insurance level on the "free" mazuma however I was giving advice about possible problems.
By the way.....your certainly not perfect....0 -
