Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
NFM- good luck with your big revision session.

Polly - it's a good point on cleaning rather than spending. And you always feel good after a good scrub. I need to do the same after having visitors all week. It's the bathrooms that need it with the extra people traffic.

Susan -sounds like a good useful day all in all.

Hannah - thanks for the cheerleading. I need if! Your day sounds great. Glad to be helpful on the bike thing. It's saved us hundreds since August of last year. Every week I cycle saves our household about £30 so that x 5, x 10 months is quite a big small thing. Glad your joining in with Mins.

FVD - nice to hear from you. I think I'm going to be in a similar boat re OD this month. I've £742 saved, plus have a DD set up for £180. So should have finished my EF almost this month. But I basically have no wages. So normally I contribute £1,000 to the pot that won't be available. I feel the same. I'm trying to figure out whether to
    a) transfer all of it into the account now. Plus stop the savings DD this month. Which reduces what I need to contribute by almost £200. And almost balances the books.
    b) Let it ride, see how bad things inevitably get then transfer as little as I can over.
I think those are the 2 main options. There is a slim chance I will be able to transfer a little bit over later in the month but I doubt it. Or if the insurance sort things out....
Your son surely could be useful in a coffee shop, is there only 1 in your area? It's hard to miss them here. All over the show.

Have lined up a shift at my old temporary work one evening to help as a favour. That will be £30.

Anyway. Found 36p this morning dropped around the place. And wombled a reciept for 115 nectar points. Have almost £10 on my card again.
Lunch was bread & cheese using up a baguette I brought home from work & the cheese from MILs visit.
Son is busy organising his Match Attack cards into a folder, which he bought with some of his pocket money. I am delighted that will be less lying around for me to clean away.

    All for now!
    Bob

Morning everyone. I hope I can jump and tag along with you in trying to be a little more savvy when it comes to my money as I need to jump back on the band wagon. This is definitely the best way to do it - posting on here and being accountable.

I've just had to have my car mot'd and I also need to pay for six or twelve months tax tomorrow.
Debt free things I've done this weekend are:
Fill in three separate forms that were sent to me my banks etc about maybe them misspelling me ppi. I've sent them off today - no harm in trying hey?
went into town but didn't spend a thing ( only £1.20 for the parking) but needed to get my prescription. It's half price sales as well so I was so tempted but refused!
Getting everything ready for dinner. Already got chicken the other day and segregated it into meals, so instead of four meals I now have six.

Hope to carry on with this and I'll come on and keep you updated.
Former Debt free wannabe. Now trying to save for a rainy day!

Washer on & drying on line -
Emails - lots to sort through as not bothered while away
    FB & Twitter -
Write shopping list for tomorrow -
Check Banks - Done & impressed
    Check swapits -
    Enter a few comps -
    All meals from cupboards/fridge/freezer -
    Pamper feet this evening -
Check https://www.freepostcodelottery.com - Remember there are now 5 chances to win -
Read - Managed to de-clutter 3 magazines and 2 books I took from home whilst away so I need to pick a new book from the shelf in attic

So we went for a walk to try & get some more card organisers this afternoon but WH didn't have them. Whilst out my son found 1p & my husband who isn't usually one for the roadkill spotted that a bench had the contents of someone's pocket on it! A find of 72p! Taking our roadkill haul for the day to over £1!! Happy days.

Husband is now cutting my hair (saving us around £40 for a cut & blow dry) but his chat isn't up to much as he's concentrating too hard :)

Bob, he is great, he gardens, cuts hair (used to home perm mine when I was a teenager!), he can cook, great with diy etc good job too as DH isn't!

When I was pg with my two, I said if I had girls they'd have to have a short back & sides too because I can't do hair!

    Evening Comrades,
Well, a mixed sort of day on the financial front. I'll get the spendy bit out of the way first.......I had forgotten that we needed some camping items before our trip later this month, so had not budgeted for them.......which was a shame, as today, we bought them. Hmmmm. The rest of today's money stuff was ok, though:
*Watered all veggies in greenhouse before we went out first thing in case it got hot as didn't want them all to shrivel (future food supplies!). It didn't get hot, but felt virtuous nevertheless.
*Knew we'd be out till mid-afternoon so made a quick packed lunch to take with us.
*mf f bought me a cake in Costas. I found a spare 87p which didn't seem to belong to any budget so used it to subsidise a couple of coffees.
    * The aforementioned camping stuff was bought in 'Go outdoors', a company flagged up to me by allydowd a year or two ago. You can buy a yearly discount card for £5, then all purchases are at a cheaper rate. We renewed our card & this knocked a decent wodge off the items I forgot to budget for. One item must actually have been on sale too, as even with the discount card, it was £6 cheaper than we thought.
*Bought an inexpensive item of clothing.........used money from the Clothing Pig, so no impact on budget.
*Did grocery shop for the week - came in at £1-83 over budget, but I was pleased with that as it included an extra ham hock for later in the month, a bottle of wine & an expensive tin of food for cat to try as a special treat.
*Took voucher to Sainsbury's for scanning to get our extra Nectar points. We didn't even realise the promotion was on until we'd done 2 shops - if you spent £100 (it applied to any dept as far as we could see) within a certain timescale, you got a voucher at the till with a barcode. It just needs scanning next time you shop & you get 2000 nectar points added to your account. I didn't know how much that would be & was amazed to find it was £10. The promotion is running again, if we can find time to shop in Sainsbury's before 6th June (there isn't one in our town), we will get another £10 worth of points added to our nectar account.
*One or two bargains.......i.e yellow-stickered chicken legs...£2 -something, enough to do two days of meals.
*Filled car up with petrol at Sainsbury's. It is 5p a litre cheaper than petrol in our town.
*Updated all budgets which had been used today.
*Use-it-up - Am finishing the last 1/3 of a lipstick by getting it out of the tube with a brush. Bought a lippy last week for £2-99. Exactly the colour I wanted. Would like it to be a little bit more moisturising, but can't complain at that price. To think what I used to spend on more expensive brands......
Well, you know, I think that's me done.
    Goodnight all,
